It has come to my attention via an email ive had off Matt with regard to a capt america suit that our English is not what it should be.

Whilst trying to translate his email it came to my attention that due to the pond that seperates us , the queens English has gone a-stray so ill start it off....

PANTS are known in the UK as trousers.

Car related stuff seems to have a lot of differences - there's also hood/bonnet, trunk/boot, tire/tyre, gas/petrol, etc.

I was trying to figure out what you were talking about in your introduction to this post, so I can see where we might have some problems.

UK: Chips - US: Fries (but these become "chips" when preceded by "Fish and..")

UK: Crisps - US: Potato Chips

Apparantly we can't agree on terms for foods originating from a potato.

UK: Shag - US: We're not allowed to say our US counterpart.

though not the most PC of terms

Uk still uses *** for cigarette (at least from what I was told) and in the US it has a completely different definition

hmm what about US: boots and UK: knickers

On the subject, I heard the word diaper is NEVER used in England.

Question: what word does the Brits use to describe the cloth on a baby's bottom ?

                        Toxic Waste....

Honestly, I think diaper is pretty much used in all English-speaking countries.

                        Here, we use "pampers"....

And that about sums up all my knowledge about the subject....

I believe they use the term "Nappies".
