Is anyone going to the Pittsburgh Comicon?

I know there are some of you guys in the area. My husband and I will be there, in costume. If you're going, let me know what day.

Hey Del, when, where and do you hope to see some Megos there?

            Pittsburgh Comicon

Len, of course I *hope* to see some Megos there. But this show doesn't always have a great vintage toy selection. It's varied over the years I've been there. There have been times I've gotten good stuff, and times I've gotten zero toy love. I mostly go to this one for comics, to see my Star Wars friends, and to dress up and see the other costumes. I'll probably be helping out with a panel this year too.

I used to go to the Pittsburgh Con every year, but they have the same guests now every year. Stan Lee is a huge name, but $40.00 per autograph? And it's 18.00 a day for entry.

However, I'd really like to meet Ramona Fradon, so maybe I'll make the trek.

Don't know why they switched it from April. Was easier to justify going in the spring. Now it's only a month before the Baltimore Con, which is much bigger & has many more guests. I primarily end up going to meet the guests...the shopping at most cons anymore isn't worth the time of looking through all the boxes.

My husband is a member of the Pittsburgh Comicon's mailing list, and according to the discussion there, the date change is a combination of some issues with the Steel City Con(formerly the Pittsburgh Toy Show), and some problems with location. I know that the place that's being rennovated for future shows wasn't ready for the regular April date or something like that. As of right now, it looks like they're planning to return to April date in 2010.
It's funny that Baltimore has become so huge, I'm afraid that it might become more like San Diego at some point. It's another show where they bring in people to promote TV shows and movies - they're kind of evolving into entertainment expos, rather than comicons. Those are ok from time to time, but Pittsburgh has always seemed to avoid that transition. I hope it does.
I always have a great time comic shopping at almost any show I go to, mainly because the larger part of the crowds seem to be there for autographs, etc and don't have to fight for deal on Silver Age books. I also attend panels, but only if it's not someone too huge.

Yes, I do take a lot of pics, but I'm really proud of how this costume, as well as my husband's, is turning out. Here's one I took of him outside our apartment.

Jessica, we went to San Diego in 07 for our honeymoon. It was crazy, and at first we weren't sure if we ever wanted to go back. I'm in Pennsylvania, so it's a long way to go. But eventually we decided to try and make the trip again someday, but I'm not sure when. We'll have to save up a lot of money, so I don't know if 2010 will be feasible or not. You should come out here and go to Pittsburgh or Baltimore with us! Either way, it would be awesome to hang out with you at a convention.

Had a great time at Pittsburgh, despite seeing less than 10 Megos on the entire sales floor. Here's the link to my Photobucket album, if you're so inclined:
                              PittsburghComicon09 pictures by delirium_dizzy - Photobucket

A lot of people wanted to take our pictures. We'd start heading across the floor to go to lunch or something, and we'd end up standing for half an hour or so until the cameras stopped flashing. We even managed to stop traffic. Some guy was pulling into the convention center, stopped his car, and leaned out the window to take a pic. Meanwhile, the other drivers were honking their horns angrily while waiting to get in! We couldn't really do anything but look sheepishly at the other drivers. I felt bad for them, but I couldn't help laughing.
