    3. Storm Shadow has a terribly designed costume and a Jonas Brothers haircut. I never saw a ninja with popped collars. His Saturday Night Fever white suit was a joke as well. The actor was not the right choice. I didn't find him threatening.
4.Terrible CGI. It looked like a video game.
    5.Changing stories/origins/names of characters.
6.Cobra Commander is really Darth Vader. Pathetic design of the character.
    7. Sigma 6 Spy Kids power suits. Nuff said.
8.The other corny suits they wore.
    9.The plot.
    10.Neo Vipers looked ridiculous.
11.Destro is 150 lbs with tin foil around his head.
12.Lackluster Snake Eyes vs. Storm Shadow battle.
13.The Gungan like underwater world was a joke.
14.Dr. Mindbender is an ex hippie scientist. He acted like his brain was fried after following the Dead around for so many years.
That's all I could think of now. Theres more though!

I saw it on opening night. My fandom is primarily for the 80's animated series, but I did read some of the Marvel Comics. I personally enjoyed G.I.JOE and felt it was an awesome, fun movie. BUT I had a problem with:

1: Scarlett's suitor. I always enjoyed that she and Duke were somewhat together. But I would have settled for the Scarlett/Snake Eyes relationship from the comics. But Scarlett and Ripcord? I'm thinking ***?!! The fact that Ripcord went from Caucasion to Marlon Wayans didn't bother me as much as the pair up of him and Scarlett. But I will admit, Marlon was hilarious at times. And even though he was Ripcord, I looked at him and thought he should have been Stalker.

2: Since when did Destro have a name and identity and his face was revealed? I've always known Destro to be a mystery man behind an iron or metal mask. And he wasn't the tall, muscular presence we're all used to.

3: The disfigured doctor becomes Cobra Commander and he was not only the Baroness's brother, but Duke's friend at one time? Absurd.

4: Who is this Heavy Duuty guy? I would have preferred Roadblock. And I did not recognize Breaker at all.

5: Altering the origins of Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and the Hard Master.

6: Zartan was not Zartan. At least give him the long hair and black masklike substance around his eyes.

7: General Hawk looked more like Flint with that beret hat.

8: The Baroness is American and not a foreigner and she reforms at the end.

Now what I did enjoy were the characterizations of
General Hawk, Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Cover Girl, and Storm Shadow.

Duke is my favorite Joe and enjoyed his role and felt that like the comics and cartoon, he was portrayed as the All American soldier and I'm hoping he'll become field commander if a sequel gets filmed. I've always seen Duke as the Clint Eastwood of the G.I.JOE team.

All in all, I enjoyed the movie despite its flaws and I hope they do make a sequel.

      Cheers.
I liked Duke as well although he would've made a better Lt.Falcon if you ask me

        Hmmmm....

Y'know, when I was a kid I HATED the cartoon, but loved the comic. (Right up until it became "Snake Eyes and GI Joe.") A lot of this stuff was dealt with in the comic:

        >Since when did Destro have a name and identity and his face was revealed?

I don't think his face was ever shown; but he's always been a member of Scottish nobility. The Iron Guard were his family's personal regiment.

        >The disfigured doctor becomes Cobra Commander and he was not only the Baroness's brother,

        ....um.... eeeeew!

        >but Duke's friend at one time?

Yeah; that's kind of a stretch. I HATE how they try to tie EVERYTHING together in most movies. Makes the world very small. In the comic Cobra Commander was a used car salesman who started a grass-roots survivalist/protest group 'cos he thought the government was ripping the little guy off; and it got WAY out of hand. I've always liked that origin, 'cos it's different.

        >The Baroness is American and not a foreigner

Yeah, in the comic she's Vietnamese; and blames Snake-Eyes for her brother's death. They might have changed that 'cos the original story would make her about 55 years old.

Saw it tonight. Was much better than I thought it was going to be, but having said that my expectations were really low. Still, I felt like one of the few people who wasn't jumping on the "this is gonna suck balls" bandwagon.
I could make a longer post, and nitpick at just about everything (w-t-f was up with snake-eyes mouth??, seriously dumb looking), but will sum it up by saying that it was an ok summer popcorn blow-em-up, but it didn't FEEL like g.i. joe.
Of course the costumes were going to be updated, I thought they looked ok, except for snake-eyes pouty mouth. The story/back story was changed and condensed.
But cobra commander, destro and zartan didn't seem like the characters until the end. duke was much too young. snake eyes and stormshadow battles were severly lack luster, they should have made it ong-bak style. I'm thinking the next one will be really cool.

I think if you are a fan of the comic, you won't enjoy this movie as much as if you're a fan of the cartoon. I felt like I was watching a two hour cartoon from the mid eighties.

Some of it was needlessly complicated and other parts were just absurd, I had no emotional attachment to it, i was neither thrilled nor upset. It was just two hours of explosions and fighting. I've seen worse I guess.

The guy playing Duke seems to be a big fan of Mark Wahlberg, my goodness he was underchieving in that role.

I do have one question, why was Cobra Commander evil? I didn't get the whole why he became that way.

He felt betrayed by the U S Army and that he was left for dead, so he was taking vengeance on the USA...remember he was suppose to have 5 minutes or something and they bombed the place early

Agreed. About 10 minutes into the movie, I began wondering if they tried to cast Wahlberg in this.

Wahlberg was the first big name rumored to be on Gi Joe, I think it was as Hawk though

He's not trying to be Wahlberg in this film though,He's always acted the same way in every film.

lol! he's really popular with young girls,so i'm guessing that's one of the reason's he was casted, they saw it as a way to bring in teen girls as well
I still say he would've been a great Lt.Falcon with his cocky attitude and good looks

I Think your right. She is definitely going to stay a baddie. I do hope that the change the look of Cobra Commander. Hopefully he starts out looking like The Darth Vader reject , and dawns a much better visor in the next installment. From what I am hearing that is Iffy though. Either way I enjoyed this one.

that was one of the biggest disappointments to the RAH fans, I'm hoping if they're smart they'll put the original Steel plate look back, just doing that would bring in a lot more fans
