If Anyone Needs A Good Cry...

I stumbled upon this classic scene from Sesame Street on Youtube dealing with the death of Mr. Hooper. I knew that he had died but I had never seen this clip before.

YouTube - Classic Sesame Street: I'm Sure Gonna Miss You, Mr. Hooper!

ADDED: Sorry, I don't know why it posted twice!

Why???? Sob I thought I forgot. Now I have to relive that trauma all over again.
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
    Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.

Sad that the real actor died...but good for Sesame Street for having the same thing happen to the character of Mr Hooper.

Life is not always easy...and it's good to explain to little kids about mortality...especially in this manner.

      Good and memorable episode.

This was a prime time special episode. I remembered when it aired, but I was long past my Sesame Street days.

I remember watching that back in the day. Personally, I still think snuffleupagus(sp?) did him in...explains why he hid out in the alley with Big Bird, and nobody else ever saw him...Sounds like a killer on the lam to me!!

Thanks for posting that grayhank---great, great clip---watching
the cast react was the REAL tearjerker---the duality of
the emotion being put out to the character AND the actor too.

Reminds me of this (Phil Hartmann/Bill McNeill death from NEWSRADIO)...

YouTube - Newsradio cast remembers Phil Hartman

I love Sesame Street, I'm a huge fan of the work of Jim Henson.

A&E did a great documentary on Sesame Street in 2000. They showed the clip of the adults explaining to Big Bird what happened to Mr. Hooper.
