You really can't overestimate how much of an impact his movies had on kids like me: a child of the 70s, but a teenager of the 80s..

My faves he directed and/or wrote:

          Ferris Bueller's Day Off
          16 Candles
          Pretty in Pink
          Breakfast Club
          Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
          Some Kind of Wonderful
          Uncle Buck

          Honorable Mention:
          The Great Outdoors
          Christmas Vacation

The Molly Ringwald trilogy and Ferris Bueller are some of my favorite "80s" flicks. RIP Mr Hughes.

Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain... and an athlete... and a basket case... a princess... and a criminal... Does that answer your question?... Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.

Oh man, you absolutely have to see that one, it's a classic. Seriously, rent it, or blind buy it, you won't be disappointed.

There are tons of his films that were a big part of my teenage years and beyond. RIP Mr. Hughes.
