There was a thread about "Guilty Pleasures" here in the General Buzz section and I can't seem to find it....anyway, the new music/musician/artist I've been listening to is linked to a guilty pleasure of mine. I've been watching the show on ABC Family that was on the WB when it originally aired called "What I Like About You" with Jennie Garth (Beverly Hills 90210) and came across an musician/singer/songwriter by the name of Dave Barnes. In one of the episodes his song "Until You" is sung by one of the other characters on the show. When I went to look up the name of the actor that sang the song on the show nothing came up. So I went to a couple of websites and finally found out who sang the song...Turns out this guy Dave Barnes was the original singer and songwriter of this song and that he had 3 albums out. Bought it off of ebay and I can say it is the best 6 bucks I ever spent on a CD. The CD is really incredible. Reminds me of a cross between Paul Carrack (Squeeze) and John Mayer. Influence are a wide spectrum of music. From Jamariquai to The Eagles to Bobby Caldwell to George Benson. This guy touches on almost every style of music on the CD. Gospel, Power Pop, Ballads, Blues and just plain old funk. The name of the CD is "Me + You + The World". Anyone else have any "New" music you are listening to??

And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see

Seriously though...anything anyone pick up just by listening to the radio...I know radio sucks these days...but there are some great alternative radio stations that have been playing some stuff that is not common everyday garbage. All I have to say is thank God for the last of the college radio stations left here in New York WFUV/Fordham University. No commercials...just music. I never would have thought that I would be happy to donate money to a radio station...but this station is worth listening to. I'd have to say about 95% of what I've bought in the last few years has been due to the station's eclectic music that it plays."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them

I was thinking of getting an HD Radio for the house...just to get FUV in clearer. Been listening to it for about 7 years now...and I can truthfully say that I don't miss Pop/Dinosaur Rock radio one bit. Dinosaur Rock radio has made me hate groups like Led Zep, Rush, AC/DC and others. It's the same old crap every day on those stations. You can even tell what song they are going to play at a particular time of the day...it's just pathetic.
here are some of the others I have bought from listening to FUV:
Racontours
Cold War Kids
Ray Lamontagne
Joan Osbourne Had her first CD...but if you want to hear a great CD by her get the one called "How Sweet It Is"
Rufus Wainright
Adele
Amy Winehouse
Brandy Carlisle
Raul Midon
Joss Stone
Rafael Sadiq
Just to name a few."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

The newest thing I've been listening to is "Let Me Be Myself" by 3 Doors Down. The Geico commercial got me and I had to hear the whole song. It stuck and it fits me very well these days, so it's a current "new" favorite. I don't usually discover new bands that I like, but usually new songs.
