My store is starting to stock Mexican Coke

Remembering the post here prompted by "Pepsi Throwback" and if sugar sweetened soft drinks are better than corn syrup sweetened ones.

It then came up that Mexican versions of soft drinks still use sugar.

I had it in my mind to get my hands on some Mexican coke but there were really no Mexican or Hispanic grocers in the area.

But low and behold, now, in the Mexican section of the store I usually go to is Mexican Coke.

I haven't had the bottle yet but I am looking forward to it.

My store already had Coke in a six back of 8 oz glass bottles. I love it because it is a nostalgic glass bottle and ialso for portion control (as opposed to 2 liter or the single 20 oz plastic bottles).

I would limit how much Coke I would have when I got 2 liters and a portion of the 2 liter would eventually go flat.

But the 8 ounce glass bottles are from the US and list corn syrup on the ingredients.

I love Mexican Coke...but avoid having it too often...I mostly drink Coke Zero.

But yes...it's way better than its American counterpart.

part of the better tast is the glass bottle. I have diet coke in glass bottles and it is better than plastic or cans (also 5X the price)

I much prefer South American Coke to American Coke. I have also noticed a different taste in Ethiopia, Cokes have always been in glass bottles which are coveted as they are returnable, but I have noticed some plastic cokes making their way in which is sad, because it means a lot of litter and waste.

I hate that they got rid of the glass 8pk bottles. That was ALL I would buy whenever I bought pop. You are right, it does taste better because the glass doesn't pass anything to the pop like plastic & aluminum cans do. I do believe that it's not just the bottle, though, in the case of the Mexican Coke. The real sugra makes a difference as well. Too bad everything comes down to money instead of quality (corn syrup , plastic & aluminum all save the companies money while charging the same price).
