Weird question, but there's a wealth of life experience in this group, as well as people willing to help a Mego-bro out, so I figured I'd take a chance . . .
Anyway, I'm working on a novel where, at one point while trying to run down a clue, my lead character needs to try to buy pot from some questionable characters.
Problem is, I was the boring Clark Kent kid and have no idea how this would go at all (outside of what I've seen on "Starsky and Hutch" and "Miami Vice") in terms of what to look for, what to say -- what to *not* say -- etc.
I'm not going for full-on contemporary verisimilitude -- I just don't want it to seem completely fake.
If anybody can help me out with some details, please PM me. I'd be obliged.
Thanks!
