Beatles White Album Sells for $29,141.

I know there are quite a few Beatles fans here and thought this was interesting to pass along. This was found on Ebay's Chatter page.

Rare Beatles Album Sells for Premium on eBay

An extremely rare copy of the Beatles White Album - Beatles - White Album UK 1968 Mono LP Cover No.0000005 - sold on eBay on Nov 23rd for $29,141 (GBP 19,201.00).

The seller, agm67, offered the following description of the item:

'The Beatles' (more commonly known as 'The White Album' ) was released exactly 40 years ago on 22nd November 1968. Widely held to be one of the most influential albums of all-time, it was recently given the number one position in the '200 Rarest Records of All Time' by 'Record Collector' magazine. The two-record set, housed in a plain white cover was designed by Richard Hamilton and each carried its own unique number stamped on the front cover. Copies numbered 0000001 to 0000004 were originally given to the members of The Beatles themselves and as yet, none of these first four numbers have emerged onto the market.

This auction for mono No.0000005 is the lowest number to emerge to date and represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own the lowest numbered mono copy which may ever be offered for sale.

You can buy the CD for $35 at Wal-Mart.

That's a great piece with that low number. Even if someone held on to one, that low number would be pretty hard to beat. Shows you that even back in the day, they were thinking in terms of collectibles, given that they numbered the set.

Yeah I suppose it would be cheaper at Walmart but I'm too lazy to stand in line... and the woman in front of me would just be writing a check anyway.

Considering that 1 through 4 were issued to the Beatles, 5 would be the lowest number you could win without shelling out an absolute ton of money.

Wonder who had #1? John? Paul?

The one thing the seller forgot to mention was that there was more than one copy of each numbered 0000001 - 0000004 There have been rumored to be about 25 sets of 0000001 - 0000004 or more. So technically the one he sold was the ONLY no.0000005. So yeah, it's a lot more rarer than 0000001 - 0000004. He could have probably gotten a lot more if that was mentioned.

Their eyes can't hope to see
                  The beauty that surrounds them
                  Isn't it a pity".

Holy Cow! That is an interesting tidbit of information, there, Dude.

Believe me, if I had the money (and a lot more in the bank than that), I wouldn't have hesitated to try for this piece.

At any rate, I need to replace my CD set that I have worn out or lost twice before. Great album!

                        Close,
I think the real story is Paul was suppose to get 000000001 ... and John snapped it out of his hands with a YOINK.
John then gave it to Yoko.
Yoko took it and busted it on the ground while yelling - "Dis iz what I tink of Beatles !!!"

                        John had a big laugh

                        Paul was furious

I think John would have wanted "number nine... number nine... number nine..."
