TV Dinners! Not the same anymore?

Ok, is it just me or are TV dinners not the same anymore? This site brought back some memories. Yet I cant find the TV dinners my Mom used to buy back in the 70's with the Blueberry muffin & Fried Chicken. Now I buy my kids the banquets TV dinners, just not the same though!

Ever since TV dinners stopped coming in foil containers and being baked in the oven they started tasting like crap.

The thing about TV Dinners, for me, was that Mom's schedule ran smack into bad-timing for something that we all wanted to see on TV. Thus, we could pull out some dinners and Mom didn't have to worry about preparing a meal. She could enjoy the show along with the rest of us.

Where to start with what has changed.

Cable TV. (Who cares what is on the "Big Three")
      VCRs
Microwaves (can't very well put aluminum in that, can you?)
Mom ain't a slave anymore, to begin with.
Family's start to not really care about eating a meal together around the tube.
Family's don't eat together. Dinner is not important anymore.
Family's don't watch TV together because all of the kids have their own TV and Mom and Dad can adjourn to different rooms to watch whatever the hell they want to watch. They both had a long day.
      Fast food on every corner.
But the biggest thing is the invention of the microwave. Did I mention you can't put foil in that bastich? Plastic is okay and it will be done in 8 minutes. Who wants to wait 45 minutes for foil since families are now smaller and you can get two dinners in the 'wave at a time? If you had 4 kids, sure, but a family of four saves time with a microwave.

Have you seen the commercial for the TV Dinners they embed.

The announcer looks like the love child of William Shatner and Adam West

Banquets is not the best these days.

When I go the frozen dinner route it's Stouffers or Marie Callender and usually bake them the slow way.

Man,look at how much chicken you got back then. Nowadays, you got to pay an arm and a leg for a chicken dinner and you get a dinky little thigh.

I stray from those types of foods because their LOADED with salt to keep them perserved on the shelf. Watch your blood pressure if you eat that stuff.
