    Today's Trek haul

Went antiquing today in Adamstown, PA and found some great deals. Picked up the 1979 set of Knickerbocker plush Kirk and Spock in the boxes. The boxes would only rate about a C7.5 but it's rare to find them together in one place.

Also picked up the ERTL Excelsior model kit for $21 and I then arrived home to find the new, expanded Star Trek II soundtrack waiting for me. Listening to it now and loving it!

    I would say,
It was a Star Trek day.

If you ever get the chance to take a trip to Adamstown, PA, may I recommend that you stop at the Stoudtburg Village and visit, among other places, The Toy Robot Museum. With over 2,100 toy robots on display from around the world and the past 40 years, it's amazing to behold.

I've known the curator, Joe Knedlhans, for about 8 years now. Nice guy and very knowledgable on sci-fi! He always has a vintage SF movie playing on his wall mounted LCD TV behind the counter. It's a fun place to hang out and in the middle of an 8 mile stretch of antique shops.

Is Stoudtburg Village the newer place that was built maybe 5-ish years ago ?
    I never went there yet.

My usual haunt in Adamstown is Readdingers (only open on Sunday).
I used to like Weavers too until they bulldozed it to make way for the road.

The Village is going about 10 years now but over the past five years, it has really developed.

Renninger's is a fantastic place. The one in Kutztown is open on Saturday and, yes, the one in Adamstown opens on Sunday.

The Antique Co-Op across from Park Place Diner is also a great spot. Almost every time I go there, I tend to find some vintage SF item I want. The Mad Hatter is another great spot and one of the first shops you hit on 272 coming off of 222.

I used to always go to the one in Kutztown ....
It sucked, but something kept drawing me back ..

I forgot the name of the place -- I think it's on Emaus ave or Lehigh st. ... But I sometimes go to one in Allentown .... The place itself kind of sucks, but every once in a while they have a decent "show" ... Sometimes they have some good ones.
Can't remember the name of the place ... They have auctions too.

Weavers was one of my favorite places back in the day.

Renningers is kind of depressing to visit these days. It's more like a ghost town than ever... eBay and the internet really hit them hard. Even that giant stand with all the vintage toys inside (Zimmers?) has closed up.

I got just about all of my MIB 12" no graying Mego Black Holes at Weavers.
Good prices too, about $30.00 apiece.

I used to always hit the Heritage and Heritage-2 ...
I did get a few things from both, but nothing great.
I think the only Mego I ever got from both Heritages was MOC CHiPS Jon from Heritage-2 for $12.00

No, sorry, should have been more clear. The Excelsior kit was $21. The two Knickerbocker Trek figures were $30.40 each.

You are referring to the Merchants Square Mall off of Lehigh Street and the end of Vultee. I live 15 minutes up 309 from there.

I have not been to Renningers in Adamstown in about a year. At the Toy Robot Museum that I mentioned in a previous post, they hold a convention called BotStock for toy robot collectors. That is usually when I go out there for the entire weekend so I can hit Renningers on Sunday.

But if I take a one day trip to Adamstown, it's usually a Saturday and Renningers is closed that day.

As for the Renningers in Kutztown, last time for me was three years ago. I wouldn't mind going back there.

The one I hit at least once a year is Zern's on Rte 73 near Rte 100. Across 73 and up a bit is Modelbahn Ott, the model shop which I also like so I usually visit both when I'm there. Although Zern's had nothing for me last time.

Did you ever hit the Quarkertown fleamarket lately ?

Last time I was there was about 2 years ago..

The newer barns in the back were pretty good... I did find some Mego's there.

I was at Q-Mart back in April. One stand had TV and movie collectibles but not even the new EMCE Megos. I didn't find anything of interest but just like Zerns and Renningers, or any antique shop, you never know when they're going to get good merchandise in. You could be disappointed one day then go back 6 mos or a year later and find a bunch of great stuff.

I just thought of another good place around the area ...
Blue Ridge fleamarket on 33 in Saylorsburg.

It was good years ago ... but lately it's been sucking bigtime.
About 10-ish years ago I got a ton of Megos, Joes, Lunchboxes etc there.

Today though, it's only good for new stuff and funnel cake
