It's that time again.
Moving time.
We've lived in this house for five years, but the rent is going throught the roof (damn, another hole in the roof!), and we need to find us a nice isolated planet to land on and conquer (decimating hostile natives and subjugating the local leaders).
Not only the rent is high, but the house is in need of repair, and Mr. Landlord is always saying "I'll be back", but never fixing the problem!
He lived in this house himself, and built another one when this one was "near dying". Lots of problems, we've got the mushroom people taking over the basement, running water from roof to cellar (and it's not using any pipes), you name it.
It could be a great house, if only that cheap ******* would invest a little of the money we give him.
Now, moving ain't easy. Other landlords loved $$$, too. I wish we had enough money to buy our own place, but we don't.
So we need to find affordable living in the next six months.
And we need to pack all our stuff!
I've already begun tackling the basement in my biohazard suit. Man, those mushroom people aren't taking any ****. They fight back!
My landlord never really finished the house properly, leaving pretty big holes in walls, where the windows join (or should join) the outer walls, etc. I've done some "filling" myself, but I don't feel I should build his house for him.
So not only does your precious heat leak out in winter, the frigging rats leak in! Landlord's says it's just mice. One foot long mice? Where do they come from? Mr. Burns' nuclear plant?
Next job: packing the collection!
Big job indeed!
Last time, it took me six months to securely pack it all. I was left with 78 boxes, and used 100 meters (300 feet) of bubble wrap. So I must start now, to get ready in time. Dusting it, wrapping it up, securing it in strong boxes, tagging it all so I can locate Mego Spidey in a heartbeat!
I'll start on my toys next month, and I'll probably need at least three months. I'm getting the hang of it after having done it already five years ago.
Hopefully , we'll find a new home early next year, one where a kind landlord accepts our motley crew (including the dogs)!
May The Bubblewrap be with us!
