    Woodstock '99: Ten Years Ago

Anyone from here attend Woodstock '99? It was held right here in my backyard of Rome NY at the former Griffiss Air Force Base. Pretty interesting experience at the time. Bought a $65 3-day ticket from a scalper on the boulevard and grabbed a shuttle bus up there and back for 3 days. Didn't camp out...why would I when I live about 3 minutes away from the shuttle stop...and can sleep in my own house. I didn't see every act but saw most of the ones I cared to see. At the age of 32 back then I had no interest in a lot of the newer acts that the younger kids were in to.

I wasn't there. It seems like I remember that Green Day and Beastie Boys played, but I don't remember any of the other acts.
Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.

Neither of those acts were at '99....I think Green Day performed at '94 (held elsewhere) and not sure on Beastie Boys

Everyone Told me the Nine Inch Nails Act was off the Hook,.. & Probably the Best , of the Best that the Event Had to Offer. I scene bits & pieces of it...here or there... Looked like a Muddy Mess Fest.

And again....that's '94 you're referring to. Woodstock '94 is known for the mud. There's was mud also at '99 but that's primarily know for the fires at the end and all of the looting and vandalism.

Yes all of the vendors, many of them local, had to sell at fixed prices set by Woodstock management in order to squelch any competition. So bottled water (20 oz.) was $4 a pop. A "single serving" meal (A hotdog, A slice of Pizza or A burger) was $12 if I recall.

Weird thing was I had just moved down to Alabama at the time and a local gas station had t-shirts for sale for the event.
