For many years the only lunchbox I owned as an adult collector was the KISS one, which I bought pretty cheap back in the early '90s. I'd wanted to collect more, but every time I went to a collectibles show the ones I wanted either were too costly or in bad shape. Now with Ebay I can find them much cheaper, thankfully. Now and then I find them out in the wild, too.
Just today I got a 1980 Pac-Man lunchboxComment

Love old Lunchboxes.
I honestly feel like kids today are totally ripped off of the experience of getting to pick one out to carry for the next year or two.
I had a discussion with my parents a while back about my lunchbox preferences as a kid. We didn't have much money back then, but that was one thing they felt was worthy of an expenditure (they really were kind of affordable), but I would not give up my Evel Knievel lunchbox from 2nd grade through 6th. They offered to buy a new one every year and I kept on carrying Evel because I loved it so much.
I still have it. Thermos and all. Still in beautiful shape and I am looking at right now because it is displayed right above my computer.Comment

Its interesting that the classic metal lunchbox is a thing of the past - I wonder why? In any case, I still have my own Fireball XL-5 lunchbox in really good condition. The thermos is long gone, but the lunchbox itself is in great shape. I saved it to store stuff in way back in the day - and somehow managed to not throw it out. So glad I didn't. It's a great-looking lunchbox.
Wish I had saved all of the other ones!___________________________________

Saildog, I don't blame you for keeping that Evel Knievel lunchbox for so long, I always thought (and still do) that it was a cool one! I don't have one in my collection yet but it's definitely one I'm gunning for someday.
Hector, I KNEW you were gonna go after those Supes lunchboxes after Jayihdz mentioned them! haha I'd love to see pics of 'em.Comment

I had breakfast at a Shoney's the other day on a job and to my surprise the lobby had some metal lunch boxes for sale. They were all Pez. Pez Fireman, Pez Policeman, etc. They had about 6 different ones. I almost bought one since I thought it was so odd tosee a metal lucnhbox again. And yes, they had the thermos.sigpic WANTED: Boxed, Carded and Kresge Carded WGSHComment

1967 Superman Lunchbox - Vintage - eBay (item 270428686232 end time Jul-27-09 15:21:29 PDT)
I kinda want to...but I don't know if it's worth it...please educate me.
P.S. I kinda know about the 78 Chris Reeve lunchbox...there's a lot of them...and I kinda gauged its price now...I'm getting one of those as well...I just don't have any idea about this older one and in that condition.
I appreciate any heads up on the matter.

The only thing that would concern me is no photos of the inside. That thing could be ate up on the inside of the box. I tend to think if it wasn't rusty as heck on the inside, there would be some shots of the inside.Comment

I'd love to get some of one's I had as a kid, but I am sure of the prices on these things. It's a task list for another time. I have too many old and noew goodies to try and get money for.In The " Real World " Vampires Do Not Sparkle. They Burn In the Sun !

Hector, I don't know if that's a good deal or not, but I do imagine it is somewhat hard to come by. It looks in decent condition from the photos, given the age. Kinda worn, but balance that with it not popping up too often.

One rumor I heard was that kids started using them as weapons and beating the crap out of other kids with them so they were banned but most likely the reason was they cost less to make them out of plastic and since they weighed less too, it would save on the shipping costs as well. Everything leads back to money!!
