Those weren't leather, they were satin pants that Olivia wore. She talks about them in this article.

They had this style of pants in the 1950's and early 1960's -- I have sweetly vivid memories as a little boy of the teenage girls across the street wearing similar style pants.

These pants were a seventies imagining late 1950's styling. Don't forget, Olivia had to be sewn into these pants for the shoot...

ONJ was ungodly hot...that first Album cover of her in the denim shirt...just blew me away! I still have that album! The dancing...ehhhh? Sometimes I see singers like Beyonce etc doing these elaborate choreogtraphed routines and I wonder why. I guess it's to prevent them doing the Elaine Dance from Seinfeld like ONJ is doing here.

But it's still all good, isn't it? And she's still a beautiful woman today.

I notice there is a second version of Magic on youtube where she's dressed in white with a backup band on stage. Is this from another show? Another take? Did she perform the same song on two different shows?

I wish they would rerun the Midnight Special on VH1 or such...I see that DVD series ad listed all the time, but not sure I want to buy it. If it came out in stores, maybe.

I'd like to borrow the DVD series (Midnight Special) just long enough to dupe them

I think Olivia in Grease was yet another female who assured my heterosexuality (along with Lynda Carter and Yvonne Craig).

              I still think that the ultimate message of Grease, culminated in that famous scene, is funny;

If you change who you are, and aren't true to yourself, you will be accepted and liked by your peers.

But who cares she was HAWT!!!

I always laughed at them casting Stockard Channing to play a highschool girl.

She was like 40 at the time ?

ONJ was (and still is) one of my major crushes. I still like anything she sings...even the Lullaby album!
She's still hot! Anyone have the SoulKiss LP? Hubba, Hubba!! on the centerfold pic!!

I think the first joke I ever told in public went like this:

"Know what I want to be when I grow up?"

                      "What?!!!!"

"A plumber. That way I can fix Farrah's faucet and Olivia Newton's john."

                      (insert cricket chirping here)

As soon as I saw the title of the thread I knew what clip it was probably gonna be, I've had this in my YouTube favorites for ages It's one of my favorite ONJ songs. I had another clip saved of her doing this song on a different show, and she looked even hotter in that clip, but it was deleted! Boooo.

I can agree with the childhood crushes on Olivia and Lynda Carter. That pretty much was mine too. I wasn't a big fan of her "Physical"-era look, but alot of the music was still really good!

And man I have been dyin' to get that Midnight Special dvd set, I'd watch them constantly. I've got great memories of the times I actually got to watch the show with my parents, turned me onto so much great music.
