Return Of The Happy Meal Box

Okay so my wife's car broke down ( Dead battery, nothing serious luckily ) So I needed to pick her and my son up after I left work. On the way home my 2 and a half year old son wanted a Beeger w/ cheese. LOL. ! So we stopped to get him a happy meal. When the kid at the counter passed out the Happy meal I was shocked........ It was a happy meal box......... Oh WOW ! I haven't seen these in years. They actually started putting Happy meals in bags for the longest time now. Apparantly because of the 30th anniversary of the Happy Meal this was a way of celebrating. My son could see how excited I was to see this. He kept asking me " what's that? " when I was being handed it. He then keep pointing at the happy meal and kept asking , " daddy you like , you like daddy ? " It was a really cute and fun family moment.

I wonder if it became a regional or optional thing per franchise or corporate location. I remember going like 12 years in Boston with them just using Happy Meal Bags , and the same here in Tampa , and It's been 7 years since I've been here. For nearly 20 years , I have only seen the bags between Boston and Tampa. Thats cool they have still had them down there.

It depends, I'm guessing it's up to the owner, because I get the paper bags in most, but some do hand out the boxes and some even give cookies

It depends on the promotion but boxes and bags show up here with the same frequency....

Boxes for most of the toys here in Georgia. My kids call them houses for the toys. Currently Ice Age toys.

I remember that one.......... There has to be someone out there that has collected these things. If so if we can hunt them down , and repro's made that would be cool.

We've been getting boxes here as well...Night at the Museum had a box, but some smaller McDs I've been through use the bags...those are the ones where the toy is at random. At the end of the month you could get just about anything they had left over from any lineup...NOT making a child very happy if they KNOW it's supposed to be one thing and then they get something else. And I WILL go complain and the manager will usually try to appease you with another toy or fries...not that it helps out with a ****ed off 5 year old who really WANTED that specific toy they advertised 40 bazillion times on Disney Channel. To a kid, having that prize is like getting the lost Ark. We do know which McDonalds to avoid when out & about on a Saturday jaunt.

Since i've had kids (the oldest is 7) the St. Louis area has had bags. At least the ones we go to have. The Happy Meal box is cool. When i was growing up my home town just had a Burger Chef. The kids meals were in a paper tray! They were the best. Their burgers were wrapped in plastic so they were steamy and moist. I miss burger chef!! Glad to see the Happy Meal box. Hopefully we can get these in my area.

Yeah, it's promotion to promotion here. It seems the bags are mostly used when they run out of the specific promotion boxes (like the recent Ice Age promotion). The bags tend to be generic. I don't think I've ever seen the generic red box like you depict.
