I did not know his son had passed on and is "on ice" as well. If that's what they believe in that's fine with me. Doesn't take away anything he did on the field or for the game.

Scott I agree with you whole heartedly. There was some scandal in this though because it was believed Ted did not want this, but it was believed that there was a napkin that could not be authenticated that he supposedly signed to have this done. Either way your right it will not take away from what he has done on the diamond.

Actually, Williams is most likely the greatest hitter ever, or at least in the picture with Ruth, Gehrig, and Musial for the best LH hitter ever. However, as a complete baseball player, he was kind of a dud. He showed disdain for defense, baserunning, and pretty much anything that the game required other than hitting. If anyone lost anything to the war, or in his case wars, it was Williams. He would've passed 700 homers, easliy, had he not lost 5 years to the service. Great, great, great hitter.....just not a complete baseball player....not that he ever suggested that he was. If only he could've gotten along with the fans and media, he would've won a few more MVP awards. Lost it both times that he won the AL triple crown. Amazing how much he was despised by the writers.......
