I liked History of the World ... but I didn't love it.

To me, it marks the point when Brooks movies went from being great to being "ok"

The caveman bit with Sid Cesar at the start is the best part.

Was there a history of the world Part I?

I only ever saw History of the World Part II? I thought the fact it wasn't a sequel was part of the humour of the title.

Or is this another case of the same movie being released under different names in different parts of the world?

Yeah. . . .I did a google search. . . .there are others out there asking about Part II. . . . .and people saying it was never made. . . .But I remember seeing it as a kid here. . . and it was definately released under the Name Part2 here. Just like the Movie Airplane, was released here as "Flying High", and our show here Prisoner, was released elswhere as Cell Block H.

At the end of Part I there is a trailer for Part II (Jews in Space). You may be thinking of that.

History was ok, but I always felt it was either rushed, and missing parts, or poorly edited. It just felt like it was missing something.

Blazing Saddles is my favorite Brooks film. High Anxiety, Space Balls are next.

Was Young Frankenstein and the Sherlock Holmes spoof with Gene Wilder and Marty Felman Brooks films as well...or just done in the same vein as?

How could you NOT love the Inquisition song:

                          The Inquisition, let's begin!
The Inquisition, Look out out sin!
We have our mission to convert the Jews...
                          (Jew, jew, jew-jew-jew jew-de-jews)

We're gonna teach them, Wrong from right!
We're gonna help them , see the light!
And make an offer that they can't refuse...
(that the Jews just can't refuse)...

There's some stuff in that flick that was a riot.

                          .
