This may sound weird but I was relieved it was a skunk and not a cat. Also, I'm afraid of snakes so it would have been hard to remove it. It smells like I'm hiding a dead body in my trunk. I'm hoping no cops stop me anytime soon.

Yeah we have a similiar problem here during the winter, I started having problems with my cars electrics, so took it to the mechanics, only too find mice had bitten through my cables, them being there in the first place, to get away from the cold, and finding a nice warm engine. We also had problems with our computers, it turned we had mouse droppings screw up the circuit boardsComment

I had a similar yet different experience when I lived in Texas. One day as I got into my car, I heard a sound I couldn't identify. I drove to work, which was a convenience store called Skinny's. As I went into my job I kept hearing the sound. I had no idea what it was. Since I parked right outside of my job, any time someone entered my store, they'd comment on the odd noise. Finally when I had no customers, I went out to my car and listened. I heard a tiny meow. I looked underneath and nothing. I opened the hood and nothing. I kept hearing it, so I opened the hood again and discovered a little tiny kitten huddled up in my engine. It was fine, but terrified. I took it into the back room of the store, gave it a warm bed and some food, and by the time I closed the store that night, I had found it a home. That poor little thing had ridden 20 miles in my engine on interstate 20 at 60mph. I'm surprised the poor little thing survived.

Geez, it musta stunk if a Burger King employee noticed it over the "aroma" of their greasy swill. I bet they woulda bought the carcass off of you
I learned back on the farm that you cant wash skunk spray off of a vehicle. It will break down over time, or you can mask it (seriously) by pouring vinegar (lots of it) over the offensive zone. On an old farm truck, or tractor (or in one case motorcycle) I didnt really care if the vinegar ruined the paint (it dulls it out). On your personal vehicle, you might not want to try it if it will contact a painted surface."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

Oh yuck. That smell will take forever to break down. Maybe you should wear a NIOSH approved respirator when you drive. Those who look outside dream. Those who look within awake.

I would suggest you spray your entire interior with Fabreeze. It probably won't eliminate the smell completely but it will probably help.Comment
