I hadnt seen this film in years, and got it some magazine as a freeby about six months ago, watched it, only to discover it was dubbed into american, didnt they use Mel's voice?

I find it hilarious when I pop in my DVD of mad max.It always asks/gives you the option of original Australian language or American???
Really do we need and American version of this?

For years, that was the only way to see the movie here, with the dubbed soundtrack (the original US distributor insisted on dubbing it for US audiences, Mel did his own voice). It always bugged me that I couldn't have the movie with it's original intended soundtrack, so I finally imported the PAL Australian VHS of the film (this was in the pre-DVD days).

...the texting slang and short form commonly used these days throws another interesting twist into the whole thing. Of course, that's almost exclusively a written form, not spoken...unless you have idiots walking around actually spelling out LOL and OMG in their everyday speaking.

I run into people every day who actually spell out those damn phrases. I have had people say "LOL" to me instead of "That's Funny!" and I year young girls say "O...M...G!" far more often that I would like.

Actually I haven't heard the word Doh! used for a few years now. I think most TV show reference expressions die down after a while.

I think that's true. Funny side note: with shows taking a while to run in other countries, people in Germany are currently speaking American slang from the mid-90s.

Wow, I probably saw it dubbed and didn't even know it!
