Sex and violence rate higher than satire on the entertainment scale
...and I'm okay with that. BRING IT ON!
Main reason being what's considered "satire" is much more
hard to define/pin down---yeah, you could decide that
what someone calls "satire"
is more "shock humor" or "taboo breaking" or a large number
of other things...
Sex and violence are just "sex" and "violence" pure and simple....THAT'S
entertainment.
You want me to get philosophical about...say, "gay sex"---I don't need
to experience Bruno's brand of stimulating conversation if that's what it's supposed to do...I have enough to think about and talk about
regarding subjects like "gay sex"
without watching people get "punk'd" and trying to pass it off
as "important" because it's supposedly "satire".
If you laugh at that stuff great...but just admit it...you laught at it because
you think it's funny. "Satire" has nothing to do with it.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix
It is, at best, only funny to a drunken, high, beer-guzzling, pot-smoking cross section of dim-witted individuals
Sweet I'm in. Stern turned radio on its ear by being outragous. If anyone watched the first jackass movie and didn't laugh out load once then you are the minority not the majority. My 74 year old palmbeach socialite Mom was in tears.
You guys must have hated the stooges too. "Oh Moe keeps hitting Larry in the face with a hammer, my kids will get the wrong idea" lol
Get over yourselves fire one up and laugh a little.

I have other things to laugh at, thank you.
Bruno in many ways is an excuse to annoy and bully people...
which, by the way, is a concept Howard Stern has always embraced
as well...
heck, his main catchphrase "BA BA BOOEY" is the calling card for a legion of
people who think it's hilarious to pick on other people---that's where
BA BA BOOEY originated, of course.
This is ONE of the issues that is the reason
people like myself have spoken up in this thread.
Just because we may be in the "minority" doesn't mean
we're necessarily "wrong" with our opinions....it just means we have
to speak up a little louder to voice our concerns.
THE THREE STOOGES (btw) was totally farciical while
the thing STERN/JACKASS/BRUNO all habve in common is that it
embeds reality with the piece at hand...I have to draw the line
somewhere---sometimes it's not clear---but I'll do it anyway.

Saw it today. It was pretty funny. It lags a little, at points and isn't exactly a pointed satire. It actually takes quite a while to get into the actual story. Borat was funnier, but I have to give a lot of credit to Cohen. He has got some big ones to attempt the stuff he does. It really earns its R rating. It should probably be NC-17.
To each his own, but I won't waste money on this. Being intensely vulgar, grotesque, and going for obvious shock value does not a serious satirist make. Crap is crap, no matter how you try to describe or defend it. Just my two cents but it saddens me to see how our society continues to debase itself. Don't we have any class at all anymore?
