    The "OUCH" thread!

I remember when I was about 10 years old, jumping out of a treehouse. . . it was only 5 feet off the ground. . . .wouldn't have been a problem except I landed on a small stump about as thick as your forearm.

It was about 1 inch longer than my legs and I landed with it on my coccyx / tail bone.

    OUCH

I remember jumping up and down as hard as I could for a few seconds before deciding to just run. . . .as fast as I could. . . .around the block trying to distract myself from the pain. My mates laughing behind me as I ran.

Just one moment I wish I could take back and rething before acting.

Anyone else have that 1/10th of a second they would like to have back to avoid a life time of that "OUCH" memory?

I used to Jet Ski in the Atlantic quite a bit.

Once, we were loading the ski into the ocean and the water rushed out really quickly. All 500 pounds of Jet Ski landed on my big toe and sheared the toenail off!! While I was standing in salt water.

It still hasn't grown back right.

I was cutting some tall weeds down using a hand sickle.

Idiot that I am, I was grabbing the weeds with my left hand and sickling them with my right.

One shot was too low and I hacked my hand ..

After I did it it actually didn't hurt for a few seconds ... then it started --- YOW< THAT HURT BAD.

I went to the hospital and watched the doctor tuck all the MEAT that was hanging out of my hand back into the wound before he sewed it up.

This happened when I was 10. I had just got home from school, and was greeted by my dog, who was still a fairly young pup at the time. A cocker-spaniel mix of some kind (a loveable mutt) she started licking my face, and I turned away from her quickly. Her tooth snagged my ear, and when I turned, I ripped my ear in half. Blood went everywhere. My older sister heard me scream, came running in the room, and yelled to my mom "The dog bit Chris' ear off!!!" Frantically I declared the dog's innocence, as my Mom temporarily bandaged me up and prepared to take me to the doctor. My Dad walked in as we went past, and I begged him not to take her out back and shoot her.

Our regular doctor was out of town, so I got to see a younger doctor, who had a kid my age. We talked about He-Man. It helped calm me down.

I of course got my ear sewed back together, but the scar is noticeable when my ears turn red from heat or embarrassment.

Well, there was that incident a few years ago with the weed wacker... I turned my head to speak to someone but didn't realize that when I looked over my shoulder, I had moved my arms as well... just enough so that my ankle connected with the line. Given the fact I wasn't wearing socks (It was summer and I was sandals)... it was definitely an OUCH moment.

Like the cliche goes ... that's gonna leave a scar.... and it did.

Back in the 80s I was riding a skateboard down a hill.
I must have hit a rock or something, which stopped the board dead and I went flying on. I somehow ended up in the air with my legs straight out in front of me in a sitting position. I landed flat on my butt which landed squarely on my manhood. Whew, I hurt just thinking about that day. It was a good 10 minutes before I could stand up............

Crushing my finger in the garage door a few months ago was a dandy

and when I was 10 I went to go pick up my sister at her middle school and some 8th grade punk threw me out a 2 story window and I broke my wrist, I was in shock when i saw my right fingers touching my right forearm

Coughing incessantly for two or three days right after a cesarian. How the hell can you cough "gently" as the nurses told me to do with my fresh wound stapled together?

A few years back while out on a road trip with the foreman of the company I worked for at the time I had quite the "accident". We were heading up to New Hampshire to deliver a replacement machine to a customer and to pick up the one they had at their facility to bring back to our shop for service. The foreman was driving the tractor-trailer truck that was hauling the machine and I and another "lackey" from our company were following behind in a pick-up truck.
Well, we were following behind a good distance and saw that the truck was pulled off to the side of the highway as we came around one of the very large bends and that the foreman was squatting down at the rear of the truck between the wheels. We pulled up behind the trailer and walked up to the truck where the foreman was and asked what was up. He mentioned that the brakes weren't working correctly and that he had stopped to check 'em out. The guy I had been riding with and I squatted down to take a peek at what was up and to see what he was doing to get an idea of how long we might be waiting. We assumed he knew what he was doing. While I was down there, the foreman asked me to hand him a tool from the box and as I did so it happened. The idiot had at some point somehow and/or for some reason loosened the air-brake cylinder cap and it all let loose. The spring which had been in full compression came flying out and hit me square off the head. I was told later on that all I did was slowly lay down and I was out! They immediately thought I was dead!
Now for all those that don't have an idea what an air-brake spring looks like they are roughly 15" tall, 9 or 10" in diameter and the coil is about the thickness of a large man's middle finger.
Well, after about a week in the hospital and after not knowing or remembering anything or anyone for a few of those days I was released having suffered nothing more than a severe concussion, fractured skull and one hell of a swollen black-eye on the side I had gotten hit on.
Luckily it had been just a glancing blow. I was later told by the doctor that a 1/4 inch in any direction from where I had gotten hit would have killed me.
The crazy thing is the entire story I just told up to the point I came out of it in the hospital and was able to remember again was all told to me by the co-workers I was on the road with. The last thing I remember that day was leaving the house to go to work were I was to meet them for the trip.
This was by far my worst "ouch" moment.
