not sure why people call this an indie movie, it looks like it was filmed in england, not indiana

Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills, and Hated:GG Allin were two indie documentaries I really enjoyed.
I prefer indie to mainstream movies geenerally and that list would be pretty long. Ghost world, Resevoir Dogs and Blood Simple would top my list though.

WOW, a lot of great choices here.
Betty Blue is brilliant and kinda messed up in artistic sort of way.

                        I would have to say:
                        American Astronaut
Shallow Grave (Indie By American Standards)
Kurosawa "Dreams" (Indie By American Standards)
                        DogTown Z-Boys
                        La Dolce Vita

Bubba Hotep is a classic. I didn't know Escape From New York was an indie but that would definitely be my number 1. One that I will get a lot of flack for even mentioning is The Virgin Suicides. It was depressing and a little slow, but it had an effect on me. I am not anywhere near the type of parent depicted in the movie, but I do think of the movie sometimes when making parenting decisions.
