For those who thought "Asteroids" was a week movie idea...

I thought Asteroids was a pretty week basis for a film...then I read this:

"Kane is currently penning a feature film based on the popular children's toy View-Master for Dreamworks Pictures says Greek Geek.

Kane revealed on a Twitter post that "Transformers" and "Star Trek" scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are also involved on the project said to be in the vein of great 80's family adventure films like "The Goonies" and "Young Sherlock Holmes"."

View Master? Come on. Who in their right mind thinks this is a good idea?
Hmmm...On the other hand....I'm going to run over to Paramount Monday morning and pitch the following films:

    "Silly Putty: the Motion Picture"

    "Rock'em Sock'em Robots"

"Etch A Sketch---Straight line to Doomsday"

    "Light Bright--40 Watts of Fury!"

    "Slinkee---It Goes Down Stairs!!"

    Did I miss any?

Man, and I thought the idea of a Fame remake was crappy.

My view is that there's more potential here due
to ASTEROIDS being pretty much a "clean slate"
            to work with.

Of course there will be the sequel: Talking View-Master, This time it's personal!

How about "Don't Break the Ice!" or "Tinkertoys" (I could have gone with erector set, but the name alone invites trouble among the x-rated crowd)
              It's all good!

On the bright side a well done 3D movie, like the old View-Master reels, would be fun...

I guess conceptually I'm not opposed to the idea. I mean, I can envision a sort of neat movie where a family get sucked into "viewmaster world"--a sorta surreal adventure movie.

But most likely, it will suck. Not like that will stop movie makers from making crappy movies. The lastest Transformers flick proves that folks seem to really love crappy movies

                      >Man, and I thought the idea of a Fame remake was crappy.

Well.... "Fame" is one of them movies that gets remade every few years. Not by name; but by thematics.

                      >I guess conceptually I'm not opposed to the idea.

INHERENTLY I'm not.... but since there's so little to work from the odds of it being a name slapped on a generic film increases.

So can I. It was called "Jumanji." Or "Stay Tuned." Or any of a number of names....
