          I like that beginning.....

          It's more catchie than the classic HEADACHE song that everybody loves ..........

          I guess I just have bad taste.

                  Wow. Interesting song, different beginning. I haven't watched Gilligan's Island for about 15 years. It's good to see that the radio wasn't recast.

                  I never knew the Professor was a high school teacher. But now I know. And knowing is half the battle.

                      TBS unearthed the pilot several years back and showed it...I actually didn't mind the theme song but I'm glad they recast 3 of the roles. The office gals and that professor just didn't make the grade.

                          If I remember right the pilot also mentions Gilligans 1st name as Willie

                              Boy that first pilot was awful! And that song would have never caught on.

                                  i am also glad they recast teh roles. the song is bad now but back then i bet it sounded cool. just look at teh clothes we wore then , now we wouldnt be caught dead in them. mike

                                      Well, that was...interesting...

                                      The composer of that song went on to write music for a few minor movies, like Jaws, Star Wars, etc - yup it's John Williams!

                                          I agree that that theme song sucked bigtime. It doesn't have the hook that the re-vised version had. And the Mary-Ann and Ginger wannabes look like a couple low-paid hookers.

                                                          Only about 5 minutes of surviving footage. I think Ole Herman prefered Phoebe. JMHO from the opening intro
