Money Order/bank Check scams' how does anyone fall for these?

I sell alot of stuff on craigslist. I get tons of these types of emails,
This is verbatim one I just got.

I am purchase item you have sail in craigplace. I like shape of item and
know final price you ask take item. I will make pay with Bank Check.
I am Bowling Green Kentucky own of store ther
Shipper have get item and have you know that the check is for more than
item please mail me the rest after you cash check.

I wrote back, here is what I wrote
Hello and thank you for your interest. I am willing to to sell to you but
as I have many things for sale at one time, you didnt tell me which item youd like to buy.

Here is the next reply from Mr Dan Williiams of Bowling Green Kentucky.

Item you sel collect craigsplace. I wish make of item and send check.
Send me place of your live and I mail check today.

I wrote back again saying the same thing, what the ???? do you want.

Here is what I got

I should be known to you of man of honest and gesture.
I pay item you buy, I need place of live send check.
I fear not you take payment and not send item.

I stopped after than.
But here is what I want to know is how in the hell does anyone fall for those.
I have talked to other people who have toyed with them as well and they got the same nonsense replys. I cant for the life of me understand how this works on people, unless I got the worlds worst scammer or something.

yeah this one is obvious but you get some good ones, I almost got arrested because of one of those.. I had sold my sup'd up 240sx and the guy sent me a bank check for $1500 over what I asked so that I could ship it, I tell the teller to please double check cause I had heard of scams(This was a few years back) he tells me the account checks out and everything's cool, I tell him the check looks funny. He tells me to give him a minute, with in seconds I had about 20 City of Miami cops pointing guns at me, Thank god I had all the emails and the teller told them I was the one who said to verify it, if not I would've been arrested for fraud

Boredom gets the better of me with those emails and I have to reply.

"I'm sorry but upon further inspection I've noticed that there is severe raccoon damage to the bed frame and the condition is not as I originally stated in the ad."

"I failed to notice heavy blood stains and what appears to be a thick, foul-smelling, grease-like substance on the underside."

Greed often clouds some peoples' judgment, and that's how they fall for scams like that, hard as it is to believe.

Teach I dunno, that is some bad english tho man...............
I am asuming its one of those Nigerian scammers, but who really knows these days.
I used that one because I found it so funny that anyone would fall for something written so bad. Item I have sail? who taught this loser english?
I have actually gotten some real slick ones, that are written in somewhat proper english, and they even use a an American sounding name,,,,,,,,,,,,,
But I wont fall for any of these, I wont ship and I only take cash.....
