These are rubber helmets that shrank too much during production and couldn't fit adults well, and Bri gifted the kids with them.

Apemania is selling a better looking rubber helmet now. This is their economy rubber helmet.

Aw man...this weekend is Fleet Week! I'm going to have to miss the Blue Angels because I have to work on Ashton's costume!!

Yes, General, you need to get your ape on!!!

And Apemania ROCKS!!!! Bri has been very helpful in helping me get the overall look of my costume just right. He's a great mentor.

Oh yikes! What did I get myself into? I tried to make wefts with liquid latex and some of this hair, but because of the curl it wasn't working very well. So I ended up just sewing the wefts of hair down. I'm layering it up as you would tile a roof, because I want to make sure that the pullover with hair still has some stretch for easy on and off.

Here's the bandolier. Not exactly the right colors, but it is what it is. It's just a practice bandolier that will have to do for tomorrow's Halloween parade. Ugh. I forgot to make him a pair of boot shafts. FUDGE!! I just sculpted the fake buttons on top of the pouches with Super Sculpey (love that stuff!). Except for the trim, everything is basically glued together. The pouches are just some craft foam taped together and covered with scrap paper, covered in fake leather.

Too tired to make him the boot shafts for Halloween, but I will do that for Wondercon, which is February 2010. Dylan will also have a complete costume by then. I'd better start on it now just so I won't feel so stressed when the time comes. Of course Ashton was the best dressed kindergartener!!

Here is a closeup of the Zira appliance that I plan to reglue on my face. It's the fifth time I will have glued it and removed it...and I think it will be time for a new one. I colored her darker color because I got tired of looking too pasty in photographs, especially with a flash. It took 15 minutes to repaint her because I used Mehron rubber mask grease thinned down with alcohol. I used my fingertips to put the color down and added a few lines with a tiny paintbrush.
