Yeah, I remember, those things were enormous! I hope you find them.

Yes, that is me in the Zira outfit. And no, you are never too old to be in costume. If you don't want to dress up for Halloween, you can put on your ape regalia and appear at a convention. If you want to be an ape, I am trying to drum up enough apes to appear at the San Diego Comic Convention in 2010, Saturday, so that I can see a group of apes together in my lifetime. It's sad to always be the only ape in town...and I would like to see an ape in person--not just me looking at the mirror.
Wow, so today, I entered the slavemines and waiting for me was a gigantic box from Apemania. I opened up the box wondering what could be fluffing it up so much. I really expected a small box for the child-sized gorilla foam latex appliances.
Inside the box was two General Ursus helmets (that I have to hide from the kids for now or else they'll want me to make them the General Ursus outfit), an extra child-sized gorilla appliance to practice with, and two Cornelius plaques--one for Dylan and one for Ashton to paint.
WOW WOW WOW.
It's like Christmas morning to me. I am on cloud 9. I am such a lucky chimp. Thank you Apemania!!!
It isn't the best looking pullover hood, but it does fit Ashton rather nicely without being overly snug. I figured it would be covered anyway with appliance and hair, so it didn't have to look so purty. I didn't even bother looking for black string and changing out whatever thread was in the sewing machine! Here is the Ashton's gorilla appliance glued on top of the pullover with liquid latex. Notice the home made monkey pajamas!! Good God I hope I glued on the right appliance...that it's really Ashton's and not Dylan's...hmmm...
Bri included the black Pax paint. It was real fun painting it up. Ashton was very happy to slouch around and walk like a gorilla in front of the mirror. Tomorrow I'll go over the black with some greys and browns so it doesn't look so solid black and so that it will photograph better...and I seriously have to think about applying the hair.
Good thing Dylan says he doesn't want to get dressed up as an ape for Halloween, because that just made my job 50% easier. He will get dressed up for Wondercon, but not Halloween. I'm not going to argue with that.
Wow! I can't wait to see how this comes out, Jess!

I am craving to go under the goo again. Putting on Ashton's pullover when nobody was looking this morning really makes me want to go ape again. I am such a hopeless case.
