    Ark of the Covenant

According to a bunch of new releases on Wednsday, the Ark ..the real Ark...was supposed to be revealed to the public today. Depending on the article, it was either to be shown by the Vatican, or shown in Ethiopia, where it has long been rumored to have been hidden away.

All I can find in the news in Michael Jackson hooey....Anybody know if it was shown today? If it was, even if it is a fake, and the press went with Mikey J stuff instead....Well, thats a pretty said statement about media priorities in my book.

Unless they find it at Neverland its going to get buried in the news.

I just did a little looking around and it was really a non-event driven by an initial report from a source that really wants it to be true. The reporting news site overlooked some facts in their reporting and apparently, didn't translate the Italian correctly from a report released from the Vatican. They incorrectly reported that the Ark was going to be revealed.

Supposedly, all that happened today was the Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church confirmed that they have the Ark (long speculated in TV Specials on the topic) and that he had seen it with his own eyes. That's all there was to it, no revealing of said Ark or any proof that it actually exists.

Subsequently, the news site, instead of acknowledging that they might have translated the Vatican Press release incorrectly, wrote a follow up piece stating in essence that the Patriarch "chickened out" of revealing the Ark and just made a statement about the Ark's existence.

I doubt even if they had it they would show it.... Supposedly it's hidden and well guarded because of the contents inside.....
            which are:

According to the Bible, the two tablets of stone constituting the "testimony" or evidence of God's covenant with the people (i.e. The Ten Commandments) were kept within the Ark itself. A golden jar containing some of the manna from the Israelites' trek in the wilderness, and the rod of Aaron that budded, were added to the contents of the Ark (Ex. 16:32-34; Heb. 9:4), but apparently were later removed at some point prior to the building of Solomon's temple, as I Kings 8:9 that there "was nothing in the Ark save the two tablets of stone." While Heb. 9:4 states these items were placed "inside" the Ark, Ex. 16:33-34 and Num. 17:10 use the expression "before" the Ark; some see a contradiction here, as the correct meaning of these phrases is open to interpretation. A Rabbinic tradition states that Moses also put the broken fragments of the first tablets of the Law into the Ark.[1] Some scholars have argued that the plans to the Tabernacle were contained in the Ark.

Thanks Saildog. I finally stumbled upon the same thing. Somebody trying to sensationalize a non-event. I kind of wish it were true though. If this is the real one, I would love to see it...on tv...where its hopefully safe!?

it would be pretty cool thought woudn't it. I don't believe in any of the religeon stuff but it is still a relic of a bygone age that has been lost for millenia and to have somone finally bring it out and say "look, here it is. we had it all the time. Na, NA"

I heard about it on Coast To Coast originally as well. Luckily they still cover stuff like this.

I tend to think very critically, but sometimes....and I mean very rarely, there is something on Coast to Coast that makes me have to delve into the subject a little further.
