This doesn't surprise me.

I work for a subsidiary of the largest musical instrument retailer in the country. A few years ago, I made a visit to our flagship store in Hollywood and heard some interesting stories about various celebs who had visited the store over the previous year.

The manager told me Johnny Depp ranked up there as one of the nicest celebrities to visit the store. They said he was very low key and didn't want any kind of special treatment (i.e. being served before another customer who had been in the store longer than him). Apparently he was extremely nice and appreciative towards all of the employees in the store.

I like Depp as an actor. I think it's because of the wide spectrum of characters he does. They're so different and he covers them so well. When I heard the rumors he might be up for the role of the Riddler I thought it was a great idea. You know if he gets it he'll give 150% into making it the way he feels it should be done. He's a lot like Heath Ledger's performance as Joker. You don't expect it to be as good as it is once you see it. Nobody saw Ledger's performance coming the way it did, and then when you saw it your first thought is WOW this guy can act and nailed this one. Depp just seems to do that stuff over and over. For example, you'll never watch his performance of John Dillinger and think this guy was Willy Wonka. IMO that's acting ability. And seems he's a nice down to earth guy as well. Always cool to see that stuff.

love johnny depp, my favorite actor. and yeah ed wood is a great film, also one of his lesser known don juan demarco he's really good in that too.

I would say that (unlike a couple of his contemporaries), his acting range is as broad and diverse as the roles he has taken... and he is a wonderful actor. (IMHO, he's the anti-Keanu).

You never know what to expect from one of his performances, only that the result will be a complete immersion and creation of the character.

It's nice to know there are still some actors who can do that nowadays!

I also rememver a couple of years ago, he was voted nicest celebrity to his fans because he would sign for everyone and was always very polite. He seems like he's very down to earth.
