    Another Question for Fathers

How many of you guys have broken down and let the kids open/play with part of your collections? Stuff that previously you wouldnt let anyone else touch without wearing gloves and close supervision.

    And yes I have......

Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
    Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

Oh hell no. I just make sure they have interesting toys of their own (including some vintage stuff) so they hopefully pay less attention to daddy's toys. My three year old already knows the difference and is surprisingly very respectful of my stuff and doesn't ask to play with any of it.

I let them play with some things. I don't do too many boxed items, so opening a minty fresh item is not usually an issue. I would have more problems keeping it in the box than they would

We have some shared collections, I suppose. A bunch of Fisher Price little people and playsets. I say shared 'cos I enjoy them almost as much as the kids do. So they get to join in when I get a new box of stuff that needs cleaning and sorting. They like that as well.

Some of the played with stuff they get to play with. The boxed stuff stays boxed!

In fact Robin got married to Barbie the other week. Didn't seem to matter to her that he was so short!
Too many toys. Not enough space!

I have actually given my boys some megos in the past. Not mint ones but close. I do buy them action figures from time to time and enjoy watching them play with them.

There's just something about watching them light up and enjoy something you did at their age that makes it worth it.

My 4 yr old and I share the collection for the most part. He knows that there are some things that we cannot play with and then three are others that are OK. I love the new Trek stuff I have some unopened and others that he opened up and we play with. I just got him the Enterprise playset a few days agao and he loves it. The POTA stuff is now grwoing as well.

I gave my son a lot of my Star Wars collection after I stopped collecting that. I have gotten him quite a few of mhis own Megos so he leaves mine alone, not that he wouldn'd like to play with a lot of them but he knows better

What I did when my second youngest son was little is get him interested in his OWN figure lines... nature took it's own course and now he has a room filled with Teen Titan figures (not the Mego ones), monsters (all vintages) and figures from Bleach (he loves that show). Plus he's a big fan of the Creature from the Black Lagoon and has more figures than I can count from 'Nightmare before Christmas'. He's a kid after my own heart...but in his generation. My daughter has her own things but supports everything I do with my stuff, like my lovely wife. My oldest son is in the Marines and even he called me today to wish me the best. They made me feel very special this weekend. I love my family!!!
