    question for the fathers

Hiya folks and a happy Father's Day to all the pops.

I was wondering how many newer dads are on the boards who are over 40?

Being a toy chatboard, many of us are still holding on to chunks of our youth (waiting to grow up) and I know I waited a bit longer than average to start up reproducing. I like to think I am a bit wiser for the kids, but I certainly am slower than I would've been if I had started this all ten years earlier. When my kids need to ask the old man, they really do.

So happy dad's day to the old and young alike. Hope you have a good day.

sorry, I started in my late twenties precisely because I wanted to be able to keep up with the kids. Althought to be honest it still is not easy.
Happy Fathers day right back at ya!

I'm 43, and father of two.

        One's eleven, the other ten.

One's a Jack Russell, the other a German shepherd/border collie mixed breed.

I'm 41 with a three year old and a 2 1/2 month old (or would she be properly called a 10 week old? ), so yeah I'm certainly a newer dad over 40. Sure I wish I was 10 years younger, but hell, I'd wish that even if I didn't have kids. I'm just praying that my kids' teenage years aren't too wild, because at that point I'll be in my mid fifties and probably won't want to deal with too much crap. At any rate, sure I'm getting older and slower, but having little kids in the house is hopefully keeping me younger, and keeping up with them is good exercise for me.

Guess I'm against the curve. My twins were born right after I turned 21. They turned 21 a couple of months ago. So obviously I'm 42 now. It sucked back then cuz things were tight but now I'm young enough to have stuff in common with my boys and be able to go to the bar with them. My daughter is 13 so I'll be 49 when she hits 21 and hopefully by then I'll be able to sit back and enjoy an early partial retirement. Was really tough having kids at a young age but I'm reaping the benefits now. Happy Father's Day to every Dad out there.

I am 37 and no signs of a wife let alone a kid---but i too was interested in
                the "father" demographics here.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL---especially the fathers!

My daughter is 6 and I'm 41. I didn't wait, we tried everything to have kids for about 12 years before Lizzy arrived. She was our miracle girl!

Im 35 with my oldest son at 11, daughter 7 and baby boy at 4. Wish I had the patience for another but alas you know that its time to throw in the towel when you start seing signs of age with the gray coming along. Was a very happy fathers day for me. My kids each gave me something and my wife gave me secret wars 1-12. I had really missed having them and got to relive some of my youth when we were dating and first gave me them way back when. Had lost them in a flood when I was still living at home with my parents.

                              45 with 11 & 13 y/o kids. Here in Oklahoma, I am definiely a late-starter. Most of my friends were grama/grampa by 36-38.

It works for us (my wife is 44), as I know we both benefit from maturity. I had a much worse temper in my 20s, and calmed down a lot in my 30s/40s. Also had more money and time by then (after I got out of the army), and the wife could stay home and concentrate on them, which makes a huge difference.
