Connery probably calls them both pansies and yells at them to stay off his lawn!

What about Boris Karloff? I don't think he was ever knighted. I guess he was from an era when celebrities weren't considered in league with that sort of stature.

Someone like Audie Murphie, most definitely. But he wasn't British.

I have to agree, I think they give them away to relieve the Queen's boredom.
I'm expecting my knighthood any day now.....

I remember Eric Clapton in an interview.
He was getting an MBE or knighthood, and the Queen adressed him: "And what do you do for a living?"
                "Well, I'm a musician, ma'am."
"And have you been doing that for long?"

The Queen should be a stand-up comedian. She cracks me up.....

The dragon might be scared off by Sir Elton. Don't underestimate the Power of Bad Dress Sense.....

I get a kick out of some of the HONORARY knights.

                      George Bush (the old man)
                      Ronald Reagan
                      Ted Kennedy
                      Bill Gates
                      Steven Speilberg
                      Ann Murray

Who's Ann Murray? Anyway, she'd be an honourary Dame, not a Knight.

It's actually the government who award the.... awards ( shades of Austin Powers there," allow myself to introduce...myself " ), the Queen just hands them out.
Although, for MBE's, CBE's, OBE's etc., Prince Charles or other " minor " Royals present them.

Anyway, Good on yer Sir Chris, about bloody time.

Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
                            Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.
