LOS ANGELES — Chastity Bono is having a sex change to become a man.

A spokesman for Bono, born a girl to Sonny and Cher, says he "has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity" and began the sex-change process earlier this year.

I imagine it would be extremely difficult feeling you had been born in the wrong sex body. (Though why any woman would want to be a man is beyond me).

The publicity part of it is to give support to people who feel like freaks because of how society reacts to them ... a kind of role model so to speak, for people who feel isolated and shunned by a society that condemns them just for being who they really are.

Yeah if I were to be in that situation I would want someone to look up to ... but I just feel that Bono is after some spotlight time. ... or maybe if she had it all done and finished then come out and talk about it. I don't know ???

I have a friend who is transgender, and also our mayor in town here, is the first transgender mayor in the USA. Maybe it's just that I'm use to the issue, so it's like a non issue to me.

I just don't see Bono being a role model for anyone. I would think that a person with those issues would want someone who can't ride on the fame from their mom and dad as back up.
