I get up early this morning and walk (in a sleep-filled trance) downstairs to my office to turn on my computer. I then proceed to go down to the basement to get some clothes out of the washroom and step into a wet spot on the carpeted landing...The water bubbles up around my toes. After saying a few explicite words suggesting surprise, I then proceed to trace the source. The water is trickling down from, of all places, the door frame. This is directly across from my collector room - Oh yeah... So I'm awake now. I run upstairs and grab my flash light, a long sturdy screwdriver, and a Xacto-knife (I already suspect the worst). After determining it's not furnace condensation I see where the copper waterlines are running overtop of the ductwork of the furnace and out of reach (how convenient). My only way of getting to them is to cut out a hole in the ceiling and inspect. Of course after doing this I find the culprit - one of the copper lines has developed a pin-size leak that is spraying all over the framework and running down the side of the doorway. Long story shortened - some epoxy putty and a 1/2 inch plumber clamp later the leak is sealed. Now, after doing that and working the rest of the day, I get to enjoy my evening cleaning up and replacing the drywall. Hey! I think I'll have a painting party tomorrow. Don't be shy about coming over! Ew... what a day... But I'm glad I got it fixed though. SO is my wife... and more so my collection. Egads that was close...
