Hello, Everyone.
I'm just about finished with the DVD set of Isis: The Complete Series, and I also watched some of the extras.
I don't know how much has been posted about the set, but here are a few of my impressions, just for the heck of it:
1. I preferred season 1 to season 2 overall. Perhaps due to the following:
*I preferred the character of Cindy Lee to Rennie Carol. I found Rennie a little too flaky.
*I preferred Isis with straight hair and in S2, it became wavier and redder
*I preferred the S1 Isis with Egyptian eyeliner, which wasn't used in S2
*Joanna Cameron seems to have been told not to "scream" her mantras in S2, because she nearly whispers "Oh Zephyr winds which blow on high, lift me now so I can fly".
*In S2, Isis sometimes changes the above line to "Oh Zephyr winds THAT blow on high", instead of "Oh Zephyr winds WHICH blow on high".
*Joanna seems to play both the Andrea and Isis characters more tongue in cheek in S2. She often looks into the camera or winks at the viewers. Maybe she was told to engage the viewers a bit more
2. I definitely missed the "lesson" or "moral" at the end of the episode. I read in the extras description that most of the morals were removed from the masters in the 1990s and the few morals included on the DVD extras were gleaned from poor quality video transfers.
3. I loved the Memorabilia gallery, showing the Mego Isis figure!
That was very cool. I noticed Benjamin Holcomb and Mark Huckabone's names mentioned in the credits.
4. I watched the cast interviews on the DVD extras (I haven't watched the interviews with the writers and director yet) and I enjoyed them, but I was so wishing Joanna Cameron was interviewed. The other three actors (Brian Cutler, Joanna Pang, and Ronalda Douglas) seemed to take great pains to politically correctly say that Joanna Cameron didn't interact with them much and they didn't know her too well. *shrug*
Overall, I really enjoyed the set so far and will enjoy the little bit I have left to watch. I found myself wishing there were more episodes, though.
I sure hope they release Shazam! soon!
Thanks for reading!
