    Kidney stones.

Any one else have them, and when they passed looked at them and kind of felt like a wimp?

From everything I've heard about them, I hope I never, ever get one.
Sure the stone may be small, but if the tube it passes through (ureter) is a lot smaller, you got yourself some serious pain.

Thank God you passed it. The worst pain imaginable is if they have to go in with the scope and bust it up. You think the stone was bad you'll be peeing razorblade for several days after that one.

Even using the sound waves feels like someone took a bat to your lower back after wards.
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
        Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

I've had 'em. I NEVER want 'em again.

I'll pass on the same advice my doctor and urologist gave to me - drink plenty of fluids, and if you do have 'em, ask about getting this stuff called PolyCitraK. It comes in a powder; you mix it with water and drink it down before you go to bed (tastes like bad Kool-Aid). I was on it for about a year and haven't had kidney stones in about a decade. Best damn thing to come along since Megos.

No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

I've always heard that if you drink a lot of milk it can cause them. I don't know how true that is though.

I had one in 1990 and was hospitalized overnite until I passed it. Didn't have another until three yrs ago which saw me pacing and writhing in the ER for three hours waiting to be seen. It took three different IV pain meds to even put a dent into what I was feeling. Took two or three days to finally pass it with intermittant attacks day to day.

It's no walk in the park. Every once in awhile I catch myself drinking too much cola and not enuff water and I get mad at myself for tempting fate again.

It took 3 months for the last one to pass. I have 2 more 1 in each kidney could be a long time before they move there only about 1mm each.

I've had them 3 times. Almost blacked out from the pain. I won't tell a long story but my Doctor advice was 100oz of WATER per day and Calcium can cause them and CRANBERRY WILL CAUSE THEM. My doctor said "Crananything" should be illegal. He doesn't understand how they get away with selling it.

100oz of water per day was a JOB for me when I started but now I drink 20-40oz at a time and it is easy to do 100oz of water a day. But it is also easy Not To drink 100oz of water per day as well.

Kidney stones, small as they are, will give you an appreciation for the Grand Scheme. If one of those 1mm stones can knock you unconscious...

On the other hand, it was kind of cool to "black out (from pain)" and you do get tunnel vision and the darkness closes in on you as you fade away. I'd been knocked out once in Karate but I just woke up later not knowing what happened. This was fading out, maybe like being choked out or strangled.

Aren't you glad I didn't tell my Long Kidney Stone story?
