    Toys R Us buys FAO

    Didn't see this coming.

    FAO Schwarz
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

It is? Why? FAO has a mere two stores, and they've struggled mightily just to keep those in business the past few years. The FAO brand is nothing like it once was.

Still, I'm happy that TRU will maintain the FAO brand. I'm all for sentimentality.

I thought FAO was still doing good on the East Coast. Two stores left. Yikes

I'm happy too that Toys-R-Us will keep the FAO brand.

I'm kind of surprised too. TRU isn't doing too hot financially themselves.

TRU is privately owned...actually from the same venture capitalists that own our company.

They know retail and are very good at purchasing these companies and turning them around.

Wow! I never seen that coming either. I just did business with FAO the other day. It looks like that it may have been my last time dealing with FAO. That is too bad. I liked FAO. Their stores were really nice to visit. They carried some real nice exclusive Hot Wheel and other exclusive toy sets that I have bought in the past. I will definitely miss that for sure.

I have not been to a Toys R Us in a little while. The last time I did visit TRU I asked myself how does this place stay in business? I guess the big question here now is how much longer WILL they (TRU) be able to hold on and stay in business at the rate the companies are folding these days?????

Too much space. Need more toys!
