    New song I wrote...

Finally getting time off from my heavy metal band Fatal Agenda, I was able to go back into the studio this week and pay some long awaited attention on my solo stuff. Me actually sitting down at a piano without band members leaning over me is nice....
I put this new clip on here called "Find Yourself" because I wanted to know from several various people what I should do to the audio before I shoot a video next week. I know I got a lot of good friends on here that I have met surprisingly that have given me more music advice then most music boards I go to. Strange? Oh well...

It is the first song on my player called "Find Yourself". Take consideration, it is a very rough scratch track.

Thanks all! If you hate it please don't respond. I already feel like it lacks something and don't need the negativity.

Don't worry about negativity, Cat. It's actually can be a healthy thing. You rarely learn anything from praise, only criticism. It's your job as a professional musician to use that knowledge. I've been in and around the music scene and a singer for the better part of twenty years and have heard countless remarks, both good and bad. I just had to decide which to lend any credence to.

Anyway, I think this tune would benefit from a couple of tweaks.

First, I would convert the keys part to acoustic and up the tempo a bit. At it's current pace, there are a lot of breaks and gaps where there's nothing but the drum machine and keys. Speed it up and keep the rythym through the guitar.

Second, I don't think the drum machine is necessary. You don't necessarily have to have it to maintain the rythym. Use emphasized guitar chords to maintain the tempo.

Cut it shorter. Get the meatiest parts out of the lyrics and stick with that. A song like this should go no longer than 3-3:30.

You've got some good ideas going here, and I'm just spouting off after a twelve hour shift. I'll shut up now. You can completely disagree with each word I wrote, and that's cool. Music is many things to many people and never the same thing to any two people.

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

      All good. Taken in condsideration.
But, that isn't a drum machine. That is a 20 year old kid named Brett Insolia.

Obviously I have listened to some of your stuff before Cat and this one is very good. Your backing band is very good. The vocals are rock solid. I like it.
