Why no Six Million Dollar man dvd set?

Does anybody know if & when the Six Million Dollar Man will be released on DVD here in the states?

Must be legal issues. I know that happened with Wonder years, I guess Batman too huh?

    Sucks!

^^ Says right in the Amazon title, non USA format, doesn't answer the question.

I read somewhere that the Weinstein (sp?) brothers had gotten the rights to make a movie with Jim Carrey then Chris Rock. The movie hasn't been made yet, so the rights are still held up over it. I'm guessing that there are some bootleg DVD's out there - but that's a complete guess.

I forget who it was that was involved in the Batman series, but there is a story you could probably Google...one of the producers passed away and left a note that his daughter found and she is in court with the note and negotiating rights on that series. Hopefully Adam and Burt will still be around to provide commentary for the episodes. Have you seen Adam West's YouTube videos?

You can get a machine that plays non USA formats on eBay or online for 30 bucks or less. I can transfer this stuff with my laptop for cheaper then that. ToysRus/Anthony knows about my computer lab., I do work for them all the time. I am like the Einstein of the DVD/audio world.

Buy the DVDs and send them to me Toysrus.

                It's a legal matter, baby.
I've been thinking about picking up some of the UK releases, but I have some concerns. Yes, it's simple enough to get a dvd player that will play anything despite the region coding. However, what worries me is how they'll play on a North American TV. Y'see, it's more than just region coding. PAL is a different system with different standards i.e. lines of resolution.

I can hook one of those systems up to a television that came out in 1987. It is not that hard.

I read an article almost 2 years ago that Lee was holding out, that he wants a bigger % of the royalties. Evidently he didn't get a very good deal with the original royalties from all the products produced in the 70's. But that wouldn't affect the Bionic Woman I wouldn't think, even though he appeared in a few episodes so I guess it might.

What ever the reasons are I hope they get them resolved. I'll be there when they hit the shelves!

A lot of region free players can convert the PAL signal to NTSC and pass the NTSC signal to your TV. (I have two region free players that do this).

Check out DVD players from Oppo, they have a very good reputation. You can't buy them in most stores but can buy them online (eg. Amazon). They do PAL-NTSC conversions just fine.

What I find a ***** to do is to use my computer to properly convert a PAL DVD and burn it to a NTSC DVD. That requires several programs and is a PITA.

I thought the problem with the Batman series was Warner and Fox fighting over the rights to the show (Warner owns the character, Fox produced the show).

Maybe they'll just wait for him to die in a few years then put it on DVD then.

That article is wrong. Here's is a link from Kennith Johnson's website telling why the Bionic shows are not out on DVD (in the USA, not in the UK, where rights are managed differently)

                              The Bionic Woman

The Bionic Woman reboot of a few years ago took care not to cross over into elements of the Cyborb novel (while the Bionic Woman TV show had carried over elements and characters from 6MDM, even though she was a creation of Universal)
