Dave is on the money here. I have had endless arguments with friends of mine about "the media". I doubt they even fully understand how broad that is or what that really means. I took some classes in Communications Arts & Sciences in College so I know a bit about this. The truth is sucess in TV is measured in ratings, ratings = people, same as in printed tabloids and newspapers, sales = people, and if they werent all tuning in no one would be serving Farrah up on a silver platter. I've been so tuned out of this story, I had not even heard she was terminal. I have not avoided this story but it's just not something I look for.Last edited by johnmiic; May 19, '09, 9:27 PM.Comment

There are other things that could be focused on and written
about by journalists and sold by the papers, etc.
"Nice things" "Success stories" "Feel good yarns"
---but the truth is that things like "death of celebs" are easier
digested by the bulk of consumers-----
It's a "fast-food-like" symbiotic relationship.
I'm a pretty shallow/non-intellectual guy myself...still...
I wouldn't have known Fawcett's condition if I didn't
read it here on these boards...
I merely pick and choose from the chintzy stuff delivered to my door"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment
