    Garage Sale Gold!

I'm always on the prowl for cool old records when I'm out on my junk digs. Was stoked to find this today:

Pretty cool to find an Elvis Sun side at a yard sale for $3!

The kicker is that it appears to be signed "From Elvis to Sue" not sure if it's authentic but I'm prolly gonna have it checked out to be sure--found it along with a Chuck Berry 78 and a Carl Perkins on Sun 78--all signed--but again, not sure if authentic.

The Elvis 78 without signature in the shape I found it in is an easy $300 anyway....

    Cool morning of hunting!

Even if that signature is bogus, that is still a heckuva find.

Not to belittle the person that sold this to you...but what the hell were they thinking??? Forget about the possible signature...It's a SUN label Elvis 78!!!! This is like me finding a 1st state (non Paste Over Beatles Yesterday and Today LP) Butcher LP and the person selling it to me for $3...it's just crazy. Congrats...and more congrats if that is an actual Elvis signature.

Ha Ha, yeah--but I buy valuable stuff for pennies on the dollar from people all the time. You know what they say, one man's junk is another man's blah blah blah.....

And oh yeah, I found a 2nd state Butcher at a thrift last year for 25 cents!

The thing about the autograph that is fishy is that I don't know if he ever signed things just "elvis" and not "elvis presley". Also, the dot on over the letter "i" is a circle. I can't find one autograph online that has that feature. I'm inclined to think the signature is bogus, but I'll prolly get it checked out just to be sure.

Wasn't this record early in his career? If so, his autograph may not have been perfected yet. Every autograph collector can spot Mickey Mantle's autograph from a mile away, but if you ever saw his early signature, you would think it was a fake.

I am pulling for Goat, you are looking at a price difference of maybe $5000 ($300 for the record, $5000+ for the auto/record), if not even more (that is just compared to autos on eBay).

Well, the record is from '54 but there's no telling when it was signed (that's assuming it's legit). The guy that sold it to me said he acquired the 78's fromm an older gentlemen who said he got them signed. But the dude I bought them form was a sort of burnt out biker dude who seemed a little sketchy. But that said, there was no deception-for-profit going on here--he was asking $3 for signed 78's and $1 for the unsigned ones.....

If it is legit I'd think $5000 would be a bit high--more like $1000 or so.

What gets me is the "E" and the way it is shaped. Here is one with a very small cirle over the "I":

This is too funny. They've got to be for real... If the guy was larcenous enough to try to pull a fast one, he would've held out for the big bucks.

Somewhere between $7 and $10 each.......
