The end of the line for Pontiac?

I realize that this is not late breaking news. However, I have been wanting to ask here for a while and just kept getting side tracked from doing so. I know that the new Chevy Camaros will be arriving real soon for those that pre ordered them. I was kind of hopefull that Pontiac was still going to make the TA. I would think that it would be a strong seller for them. Then I seen the news stating that GM will be dropping Pontiac line. So does this mean that there will be no new Pontiac Trans-Am's built/sold? Does anyone know? Does any one even care? (you don't have to answer that last one )

Ive always wondered things like that. Why not ride the "retro remake" car trend lately and sell the transams and firebirds again? Why didnt dodge release the barracuda instead of the challenger? i always thought the cudas were way cooler and more popular. guess thats why I dont work for the car industry lol

I got a 1989 Iroc for my graduation present. I loved that car. It was truly awesome. Later as time went by.... I bought a 1989 Pontiac Formula....I liked that one as well.....It was an F-body just like the Camaro's. Then I bought a 1996 TA WS6....Then a 1999 30th anniv. TA....and I was hoping to add a 2009 or 2010 TA to my collection of cars...Not looking like that is going to happen from what I have read/seen. I was not a real big fan of the new Camaro at first. The more I see it the more it kind of grows on me though. I might just end up getting one of those to "play with" if I cannot get the TA. I still have other cars in my collection so it really isn't that big of a deal. It would be kind of neat though to have one of the last TA's made. Especially a special edition.

I really have no idea what the car mfgs. are thinking if they are even really thinking. It seems like to me that they are wanting to go under. I agree that the classic muscle cars with the new bells and whistles would be a great seller. I just do not know why the car companies are so hard headed about making them??? I actually would have thought that Chrysler would have been doing a lot better than what they have by releasing some of their new models. I guess that is why they are in the car mfg. business and I am not. LOL!! hahaha

Pontiac as a division and a dealership will likely disappear, but I anticipate GM will try to release occasional Pontiac branded versions of some cars (like a Firebird T/A), likely through Chevrolet dealerships (at least that is what I would do).

As for the Barracuda question, that was Plymouth car. Again, it would make some sense for a variant Challenger (and again, I would do it if demand warranted, and rumor was that they would do one branded as a Chrysler). Until they have exhausted their demand a bit, I think the Camaro and Challenger will probably be it for the time being.

PS - If I were going to buy one of the current retro muscle cars (Camaro, Challenger or Mustang), I'd be exercising my mid life crisis choice on the Challenger. Definitely the best looking and most practical of the cars, even if it isn't the most powerful or best performing of the three.

Car nut here and always sad to see an American brand go under.
I always wonder what a new Studebaker, Packard, Hudson, DeSoto, etc would look like if they were still in business.

yeah I love TA's,I doubt they will be made anytime soon.Which sucks, cause the bird would've looked awesome on the hood of a new TA

and I'd still take the new Cobra Shelby Mustang over the Challenger or z-28
