This weekend while moving an extra refrigerator I have I noticed a leak coming from under the water heater. The plumber came by this morning and confirmed that I needed a new one. It cost a pretty penny but it is much more energy efficient and a much better one. At least I was lucky enough to have caught it before it completely blew and flooded my downstairs.

I've had at least 3 blow on me in the last 10 years. Luckily the last one was still under warranty but it was a pain in the butt to replace by myself.
Luckily it is in my garage (which turned into a sauna for a short while, LOL)

Gee that sucks, but I'll take a leak over a flood any day."Do you believe, you believe in magic?

No, it's not a tankless one. It's a Whirlpool Energy Smart water heater with a diagnostic center on it. I'll try anything that will help out after last winter's electric bill.Last edited by Marvelmania; May 5, '09, 4:36 PM.Comment

It's a 58 gallon and ran $408 plus the plumber's fees. I thought about doing it myself but figured for something like that I'd best get a pro since my toy and comic rooms are just 2 rooms over. It's a hit in the wallet but at least I don't have to worry about it for a while. I think the warranty is 12 years.Comment
