    ipod

    So;

I had to get an ipod: I DESPERATELY need my tunes, and CD players are just as expensive. (And there's no way I can rebuild my old one again.) One weird feature I noticed is that the little pod-thingie keeps track of how often you play certain songs. The current top 10 on mine are:

-"She is my Sin": Nightwish. 100 plays.
-"Run For Your Life": The Creepshow. 72 plays.
    -"Indestructible": Disturbed. 65 plays.
-"Inside the Fire": Disturbed. 60 plays.
-"Rue Morgue Radio": The Creepshow. 59 plays.
    -'Eva": Nightwish. 49 plays.
-"Goonie Bird": The Royal Crowns. 48 plays.
    -"Psychosocial": Slipknot. 47 plays.
    -"Alive": Meatloaf. 42 plays.
    -"10001110101": Clutch. 41 plays.

Wonder what this says about me....

So has anyone else used this feature? And if so, what're your top ten?

I gotta admit, I've never owned an Ipod or any kind of MP3 player. I'm pretty low tech when comes to music. Heck, I still listen to LPs.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I've had an Mp3 player of some time for a while now, but recently just bought the 120 gig ipod and put every CD I own into it, well over a thousand. It's pretty cool to hit random on everything you own. There's stuff in my own collection I haven't heard for a decade, that is popping up.

But to answer your question, no, I don't pay much attention to the play count.

The closest thing I have to an ipod is my PSP. I can transfer cds onto the memory stick and use it pretty much the same way. It hooks up to the same auxilliary jack in the car as an ipod, but I don't know if the transferred songs are stored as MP3s or not.

              I never owned and ipod

My nephew was showing me his about a year ago.

The buttons were too small for me to work correctly, so for me it's useless.

                  Werewolf, you're my kinda guy!

Yes, low tech here too. Although I do own CDs, I use them to make master copies of tapes (using my mom's CD player). I basically play records and tapes (even at school). And I still play my Walkman!

Anybody here old enough to remember reel-to-reel tape records ?

My brother used to have one and we all thought it was the coolest thing in the world.

My buddies dad has one he still uses. It's like 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide. I actually just bought my wife a record player that converts records to MP3 format. I don't know why. I can download every song on her records that she wants in a fraction of the time in better quality but she likes the scratchy sound and it comes through just like that. I think it reminds her of her sister that passed away years ago. They would listen to albums all the time when they were young. It's kinda her flashback to childhood. As long as she's happy, that's all that matters.

I bought a Nano when they first came out, but I lost it a year later. I haven't replaced it yet, but I probably will soon. In the meantime, I use my PSP. It works almost just as well, but I only have about 4 GB worth of memory sticks to use with it, and it's bulkier than an ipod.

I remember when my dad used to play his jazz and blues reel-to-reel. But I can relate to liking the pops and cracks of a record. It lets you know it has history, the record has been there for you, takes you back to a more innocent time. Records RULE!

I love my Ipod as well. 120gb classic. Just got it recently.
My issue is the cost of the freakin cables to play\charge it in my car. The BelKin ones suck and fall apart fast even if you baby them, and the good ones are expensive. A cable shouldn't cost 70 bucks. That's BS. Still love the IPOD though.

Ipods/digital walkmen are key to own for me, man---

It BLOWS MY MIND to have all my favorite music a few presses away!

Who would have thought we'd have this kind of convenience!

As far as recording how many plays a certain song gets---mine doesn't
do that and I don't think it would matter to me if it did have that feature.
