Like anyone from the Dr. Pepper company is gonna admit that it's the real one even if it was. Never know what you're gonna find in an antique shop. I almost wonder if it would make more money if he copied it and sold the copies through a book company. Not sure how many collector's out there would be interested in a Dr. Pepper replica collectible. $50,000-$75,000 seems like small change to a large book manufacturer and the owner wouldn't have to sell it, just release the printing rights. Probably make more money and still would own the original.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I remember seeing on the History Channel that Dr Pepper one of if not the oldest soda pop beverage (older than coke). It has the most caffeine of the popular soda pops (not including stuff like jolt). But including pepsi, coke and moutain dew, and that it was argued during WWII, when the govt was going to rationalize it's use, that because blood sugar levels dropped during the day at the work hours of 10, 2 and 4 that it should be used then to raise blood sugar levels and the government instead implemented that it be drank at those times for military personnel, which led to the old logo with the clock indicating the times 10-2-4 on it. Pretty neat stuff.

I remember also of them telling that those formulas went through several refining versions before coming to the ones we know of today (of course, including the use of cocain and such). So as for it being the Dr Pepper we know of is quite possible that it isn't but, it very well may just be the original or close to the original formula that would have been used as a cough syrup or something of the nature. Which is still quite a find.

And I remember when a truck driver stumbled upon an old pair of blue jeans in a mine shaft in a ghost town out west. It turned out to be the very first on record pair of levis jeans predating anything they had previously on record. And of course brought they guy a few million on his return. Just for finding them.

Back in the 90's I was gonna start a zine dedicated to the Dr Pepper knock off. The names are sometimes hilarious. My favorite was Dr. Schnee. They all utilized the purplish maroon can as well, to tip of the prospecting consumer.

There are equally funny Mountain Dew knock offs too!

I wouldn't be surprised if the Dr. Pepper company sought to purchase the book from him outright.

The guy I work next to drinks Dr. Pepper like it's going out of style. He drinks at least 3 of those giant fountain drink cups a day 52 oz.
One day he came in and didn't have a Dr. Pepper and was all lethargic and cranky until he went and got one.
