When we had dogs, they either came from friends giving them to us because their dog had recently had a litter, or my Dad bought them from a co-worker whose dog had recently had a litter. Once during the winter my cousin found a parakeet lying in the gutter in some snow, still breathing but not moving and he brought him home. After it warmed up it acted completely normal and lived for a couple years.

The farm behind my house. The cats keep coming down the hill to my house and wind up adopting me.

That is funny Mike! I am just glad to see that you had a big heart and was able to take one in. I am sure your cat is happily in a great home.

That is a great story. I wish all pet related stories had such great happy endings.

He was still a puppy and his owner used to beat and mistreat him.
Anyone who mistreats an animal is a total low life. I would love nothing more than to stand toe to toe and face to face with those type of losers and put the smack down on them and see how they like it.

After Oreo, one of my class guinea pigs died, I was looking to replace him for a friend to Boomer. A woman posted a flyer on my school bulletin board for her guinea pig Harvey. I bought him, (and quickly changed his name to Peanut). Boomer has since passed on, and this year's class has lost interest in a class pet. I really got tired of begging unwilling families to take him home on weekends, so I took him home. (he's the only class pet that I actually paid for, so technically he is mine).

                    Man, that's a great photo.

2 of my dogs are from the pound, & one we picked up from a ranch near Colorado Springs. The Ponies - one is from Canada (thorough-bred) and one was a wild mustang in Southern Wyoming. The cats are 2 brothers and a sister, and came from a local farm that had extras.
