tell friend or family that you love them...

you never know when its gonna be too late...

yestaday i witnessed an accident, bit nasty, i was a little way coming down the road in our car, its a one way side of the road as the oncoming traffic are way over across a grass mid section... a guy on a bike on the other side of the road was moving along slow along the kerb, split second and bang, the car speeds off and theres a guy on the deck, traffic ahead of us stops and folks rush over the grass verge to help, a paramaedic speeds down the road as there is a paramedic stationed in his car parked at the end of the road, he arrives rapidly fair play, seems like seconds but it must be mins and the police arrive, ambulance shortly after, seeing as the folks who got out up front are blocking this side of the road we are unable to move forward so we wait, a little time passes paramedics are all over the place, the guy still lying on the ground the whole time, we slowly start to pass by, i look over as you do and i swear it shook me up as the guys head was facing our way and its almost as if i looked into his eyes, i chat to the misses, somethng like aww love him i hope he is ok

today i hear he died there and then

i was looking into a dead mans eyes

i dont know the guy even though he was local but it has hit home for me today... how you can lose your life like flicking a switch

they found the car abandoned and the people who sped off tried to claim the car had been stolen, anyways they got them

    what will they get... 3 ? 5 ? 6 years? if that

nothing for a dads, brothers... sons life is it

That's the way it goes sometimes. We're fragile and accidents happen. If it weren't the automobiles it would be the cave bears.

It's scary how easily something like that can happen to anyone, in the blink of an eye. I try not to think about my loved ones in a situation like that, but I sometimes do anyway, it could happen to anybody. Life is indeed fragile but you would go crazy if you always worried about that.

I witnessed a similar accident, were a Semi truck or Lory as I believe you call them, slammed into stopped traffic at 60-70 mph. Several were hurt, and the man in the car in the direct path was killed. I was one of the first on the scene, as I had a front row seat. It bothered me for some time, and I don't take it for granted. The car was smashed up like an accordion. The truck driver didn't even take any responsibility, and plead not guilty. I think that's about as shameful as it gets. It was a very sobering reality check for me, and I still avoid those dam trucks like the plague when I'm driving. Sorry about your ordeal.

Thanks for the reminder. We know it is going to happen but we still don't expect it. I hope you are doing okay...

Years back, a friend lost his son in a traffic accident.
The boy died on the street. My friend said a woman had stopped, and had held his son as he died.

Two weeks later, during a family reunion, my sister-in-law said that she had witnessed an accident, and she had stopped. She held the boy as he died.

What are the odds? They never knew each other before that....

About telling people you love them:
About ten years ago, I wrote a letter to my parents, telling them I loved them, and that I was proud to be their son.
By putting it on paper, it meant so much more to myself, and to them, seeing it "spelled out".
You never know how long they'll be around, and my father died 2 years ago. I'm so happy I did that. My father never spoke of his feelings, was not a "hugger", but I needed to tell them, even if it was just for myself.
