Would seem like overkill?
NEWSFLASH...the man has one of the the deadliest forms of cancer, stage IV pancreatic cancer...and it has spread to his liver...nothing overkill about those sad facts...I saw the very same thing happened to my dad...nothing bombastic about calling it like it is...it's just a sad fact.
My hat is off to Swayzee though...it's very painful to be at that stage of cancer spread...the guy is a hero...he's not sitting around to die...he is living life the best he can...but I'm a realist...unless scientists find a cure for cancer right now...I'm afraid his days are numbered.sigpicComment

It's sad, but at least he and his family can prepare themselves and reach an acceptance. I had an old friend die suddenly last month. His family is shocked, shattered, and so overwhelmed by all the necessities and loose ends that are compounding their grief.
There's no good way to go, but Swayze seems to have borne his struggle with dignity and grace, and he's fought the good fight. That takes a special kind of courage.

It's hard to imagine yourself in somebody elses shoes but I think if I was in his place i'd be looking for somebody to end it for me as soon as possible.
I've seen too many people die of cancer in my lifetime and most don't die peaceful and painless.

Same here,my poor grandmother suffered for to long. I remember her saying she wanted to live and she wasn't gonna give up...the doctors had given her a few days and she lasted months. I remember thinking to myself that If it were me,I would've given up and probably taken the easy way out.

I have to say it looks like it would take a miracle at this point. But some of that may be attributed to Chemo as well. I just hope he still has some strength for what he's going through. Whether respiratory or heart failure, it looks like something is going to get him. He looks very weak.
I remember when Robert Urich had cancer and we were all following him because he was another local guy who made it big. He had reported that he was recovering and doing well and then all of a sudden he was gone.
My wife's uncle looked this frail 15 years ago. He had been suffering from congestive heart failure. And within months of my wife and I dating he went from looking his age (60's) to looking 95. He was on his way out. But Pittsburgh found him a heart and he had the money to pay for it at the time. He lived another 10 years with that new heart. Went back to looking like his age and enjoyed life. That guy really had a second chance.
But cancer is a difficult thing. It moves around and you have to literally kill parts of your body to defeat it. That is what Patrick looks like. And if it's in his liver. I really don't think it will be long before his skin starts turning jaundiced and that's it.Comment
