In case of an emergency - Mego Awareness day

I was just wondering the other day what some of your emergency plans are (if any) as it pertains to your Mego collection. I came up with this thread to make one think. If you do not have some kind of an emergency plan put together regarding your Mego's maybe now would be the time to reconsider before it is too late. Heaven forbid anything like this would actually happen in a real life event. Lets just say for instance though that your house was on fire and you had a "little" time to take something with you Mego wise. This does not include your family or pets as they are safe and sound outside waiting for you where it is safe. Do you actually have a safety plan as it pertains to your Mego's or would you just have to run around with your head cut off wondering what to do. Or worse yet would you have to end up kissing your collecting and/or child hood memories good bye?

My master plan is this. I do not think that I would have to worry so much as I have a large fireproof safe as well as a fire proof four drawer filing cabinet and that is where I keep my most expensive treasured items.

    What is your plan(s)?
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

MEGO wise. I still have everything boxed up. I only have a few on display. So if it came down to it I would grab what I can and run. I also have insurance so that would kinda help

I have insurance as well although I am not so sure that it would cover the value as we like to see our Mego's $$$ wise. There is a special kind of insurance for collectibles I have heard. You can buy insurance for anything these days. One can have their legs, feet or just about any part of your body insured for the right price of course. Case in point Heidi Klum has her legs insured. No big surprise there though. One must be careful though as to know just exactly what type of insurance that you have and what it will actually cover and for how much. I still feel safer (no pun intended there) knowing that my prized possessions are safe. You can replace most items sure as they are only but material things. The sentimental value for some is a different feeling/story all together. Some things/feelings insurance just cannot replace no matter how high the dollar amount IMO.

J - You definitely have the right idea about saving your molds. I know that the molds could no doubt be re made if need be. I am sure that it would be a pain though. Why do that when you already have them and can save them? You definitely need to invest in a fire/water proof safe my friend. Just one less thing you have to worry about in the unlikely event that you may not be home to save your molds when a fire or other catastrophe strikes. Heaven forbid.

That sucks! That is exactly what this post is all about to try and help prevent a tragedy like that from happening in the first place. I want people to become more aware of this kind of stuff so that hopefully it will not happen to them. It is amazing that people do not think of this more when it comes to their prized possessions. I myself tend to be proactive vs. reactive. Keep in mind everyone that as mentioned previously your family and pets are safe and outside waiting for you. I realize they are first and foremost with everyone including myself. While true Mego collections can be replaced eventually there is something about the sentimental value of the toys that one grew up with and played with as a kid. Those exact toys can never be replaced.

Have fun with the hobby, collect and safe guard responsibly!
